Overview

This document describes the operation and programming of the Pro1 Technologies T725 thermostat, a device designed to manage your home's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system. The thermostat offers both temporary and permanent hold features, as well as programmable schedules to optimize energy efficiency and comfort.

Function Description

The Pro1 T725 thermostat serves as the central control unit for your HVAC system. It allows users to select the desired operating mode (Heat, Cool, Off, or Emergency Heat for heat pumps with auxiliary heat) and set a target room temperature. The thermostat continuously monitors the ambient temperature and activates the heating or cooling system as needed to maintain the setpoint. It supports two stages of heating, prioritizing the first stage for energy efficiency and engaging the second stage only when necessary to reach the desired temperature. The fan can be set to run continuously (ON) or to cycle automatically with the heating or cooling system (AUTO). The device also includes a programmable schedule feature, allowing users to define different temperature setpoints for various times of the day across a 5+1+1 day or 7-day schedule. This helps in managing energy consumption by adjusting temperatures when the home is unoccupied or during sleep hours.

Usage Features

The thermostat features an LCD display that shows the current room temperature, time, day of the week, and the setpoint temperature. Key indicators on the display include "COOL ON" or "HEAT ON" when the respective systems are active, and a flashing icon when the compressor delay feature is engaged. A "HOLD" indicator appears when the thermostat program is temporarily or permanently overridden. The display also shows "Stage 2" when the second stage of heating is active.

User interaction is facilitated by several buttons:

  • + and - buttons: Used to adjust the desired room temperature setpoint. These buttons are also used for navigating and selecting options during programming, such as setting the day of the week, time, and program schedule setpoints.
  • Menu button: Accesses the programming options, including setting the time and program schedule.
  • SET TIME button: Initiates the process for setting the current time and day.
  • NEXT STEP button: Moves through the various steps during time and program schedule setup.
  • DONE button: Confirms settings after completing a programming sequence.
  • RUN SCHED button: Allows users to exit temporary or permanent hold modes and return to the programmed schedule.
  • System Switch: A physical switch located on the thermostat that allows users to select the operating mode: HEAT, COOL, OFF, or EmH (Emergency Heat).
  • Fan Switch: A physical switch to select fan operation: ON (continuous) or AUTO (cycles with system).
  • Glow in the dark light button: This button self-illuminates for several hours after exposure to ambient light and also turns on the display light when pressed, aiding visibility in low-light conditions.

The thermostat offers flexible programming options:

  • Temporary Hold: Pressing the + or - buttons while the thermostat is running a schedule will temporarily override the program. The display will show "HOLD" and "RUN SCHED." The new setpoint will remain active until the next scheduled program period.
  • Permanent Hold: Pressing the "HOLD" key on the left side of the screen will permanently maintain the current setpoint, overriding all programmed schedules. "HOLD" will appear below the setpoint temperature. The setpoint can be adjusted using the + or - keys.
  • Program Schedule (5+1+1 or 7 Day): Users can customize heating and cooling schedules independently. The programming involves setting "WAKE," "LEAVE," "RETURN," and "SLEEP" time periods and their corresponding setpoint temperatures for each day or set of days (Monday-Friday, Saturday, Sunday).
  • Time-Saving Functions: The thermostat includes features to simplify programming. Users can copy all time periods and temperatures from the current day and system to all other days. Additionally, it's possible to copy all time periods (but not temperatures) from one system (e.g., Heat) to the opposite system (e.g., Cool).

Maintenance Features

The Pro1 T725 thermostat incorporates features to ensure its proper functioning and to remind users of necessary maintenance:

  • Low Battery Indicator: A "LOW" battery icon will appear on the display when the AA battery power is low. It is crucial to replace the batteries promptly.
    • If batteries are not replaced within 21 days of the "LOW" indicator appearing, the screen will only show the low battery indicator, but full functionality will be maintained.
    • If batteries are not replaced after an additional 21 days (days 22-42 since the initial "LOW" display), the setpoints will automatically change to 55°F (Heating) and 85°F (Cooling). Any user adjustments to these setpoints will hold for 4 hours before reverting to 55°F or 85°F.
    • After 63 days without battery replacement, the thermostat will shut off the unit to prevent freezing or overheating, requiring immediate battery replacement to restore operation.
  • Easy Access Battery Door: The thermostat is designed with a finger bevel on the lower portion, allowing for easy access to the battery compartment for quick replacement of the two AA alkaline batteries. High-quality alkaline batteries are recommended.
  • Filter Change Reminder: If configured by an HVAC contractor, the thermostat will display "FILT" when the air filter needs to be changed.
  • Resetting Filter Reminder: To reset the filter change reminder after replacing the air filter, hold down the second button from the top left side of the thermostat for 3 seconds.
  • Equipment Damage Hazard Warning: The manual explicitly warns against operating the cooling system if the outdoor temperature is below 50°F (10°C) to prevent possible compressor damage.
