Why does my ProForm STYLE 8000 walking belt slow down when I walk on it?
    • K
      kimberlytuckerAug 30, 2025
If your ProForm Treadmill's walking belt slows down when you walk on it, ensure you're not using an inadequate extension cord. If an extension cord is necessary, use only a 3-conductor, 1 mm[2] (14-gauge) cord that is no longer than 1.5 m (5 ft.). Also, the walking belt might be overtightened. To correct this, remove the key and unplug the power cord. Use the hex key to turn both rear roller bolts counterclockwise by 1/4 of a turn. When properly tightened, you should be able to lift each edge of the belt 2 to 3 inches (5 to 7 cm) off the walking platform. Keep the belt centered. Plug the power cord back in, insert the key, and run the treadmill for a few minutes. Repeat until the belt is properly tightened.

      Karen HammondNov 11, 2025
If your ProForm Treadmill's walking belt is off-center, remove the key and unplug the power cord first. If the belt has moved to the left, turn the left rear roller bolt clockwise by 1/2 turn using the hex key. If it's shifted to the right, turn the bolt counterclockwise by 1/2 turn. Avoid overtightening the belt. Plug the power cord back in, insert the key, and run the treadmill for a few minutes. Repeat this process until the walking belt is centered. If the walking belt slips when you walk on it, start by removing the key and unplugging the power cord. Use the hex key to turn both rear roller bolts clockwise by 1/4 of a turn. The walking belt should be tight enough that you can lift each side 2 to 3 inches (5 to 7 cm) off the platform. Keep the belt centered. Plug the power cord back i...
