Battery Installation (Fig.B)
WARNING: Batteries can explode, or leak, and can
cause injury or fire. To reduce this risk:
1. Using a 2 mm hex wrench (not supplied), remove the
two screws

holding the battery cover.
2. Remove the battery cover

as shown inFig.B.
3. Insert two fresh AAA batteries

into the battery
compartment

making sure to match (+) and (‑)
terminals correctly and reinstall the batterycover.
4. Fit the battery cover

over the battery compartment

Install and tighten the two screws

of the
batterycover

using a 2 mm hex wrench.
5. Ensure that the battery cover
8
is tightlysecured.
Carefully follow all instructions and warnings on the
battery label andpackage.
Always insert batteries correctly with regard to polarity
(+ and ‑), marked on the battery and theequipment.
Do not short battery terminals.
Do not charge batteries.
Do not mix old and fresh batteries. Replace all of
them at the same time with new batteries of the
same brand and type.
Remove dead batteries immediately and dispose of
per localcodes.
Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
Keep batteries out of reach of children.
Remove batteries if the device will not be used for
severalmonths.

WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious
personal injury, turn unit off before making any
adjustments or removing/installing attachments
or accessories. An accidental start‑up can causeinjury.

an authorized PROTO® service center or
to your local retailer for recycling. In some
areas, it is illegal to place spent battery
packs in the trash. You may also contact your local recycling
center for information on where to drop off the spent
battery pack. Do not place in curbside recycling. For more

number in the RBRC®Seal.

Additional Safety Warnings
a ) Do not use a battery pack or appliance that
is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified
batteries may exhibit unpredictable behavior resulting
in fire, explosion or risk ofinjury.
b ) Do not expose a battery pack or appliance
to fire or excessive temperature. Exposure to
fire or temperature above 266°F (130 °C) may
causeexplosion.
c ) Have servicing performed by a qualified repair
person using only identical replacement parts. This
will ensure that the safety of the product ismaintained.
Battery Maintenance
When the wrench will not be used for an extended period of
time, remove thebatteries
Do not mix battery types or combine used batteries with
freshones.
Sweat, oil, and water can prevent a battery’s terminal
from making electrical contact.To avoid this, wipe both
terminals before loading abattery.
Dispose of batteries in a designated disposal area.Do not
dispose of batteries infire.
Do not shake violently or dropwrench.
Do not use this wrench as ahammer.
Do not leave this wrench in any place exposed to excessive
heat, humidity, or directsunlight.
Do not use this apparatus in water, as it is notwaterproof.
If the wrench gets wet, wipe it with a dry towel as soon as
possible.The salt in seawater can be especiallydamaging.
Do not use organic solvents, such as alcohol or paint
thinner when cleaning thewrench.
Keep this wrench away frommagnets.
Do not expose this wrench to dust or sand as this could
cause seriousdamage.
Do not apply excessive force to the LCDpanel.
Apply torque slowly and grasp the center of the handle.Do
not apply load to the end of thehandle.
After use, set torque wrench to lowest setting to prevent
damage to the spring.
CAUTION:
Hard impacts or dropping the wrench may impair accuracy
of the wrench. If the wrench is dropped or receives a sharp
impact have the wrench accuracychecked.
To ensure correct operation and accuracy this product must
be calibrated periodically in line withstandards.
