What to do if hot-swapping of drives fails on QNAP ES1686dc Network Storage Server?

If hot-swapping drives fails, log in to QES as administrator. Then go to Main Menu > Storage Manager > Storage > Disks, and locate the failed drive. Prepare a new hard drive with the same or larger capacity than the failed one. Remove the failed drive from the QNAP Network Storage Server, wait for 20 seconds (or until the NAS beeps twice), remove the drive from the tray, insert the new drive into the tray, and install it. The NAS will beep twice. Finally, go to Main Menu > Storage Manager > Storage Space.
