What to do if hot-swapping failed drives on QNAP Storage?
- TTammy BurgessAug 3, 2025
To replace a failed drive in your QNAP Storage, log in to QES as administrator. Navigate to 'Main Menu > Storage Manager > Storage > Disks', and find the failed drive. Ensure you have a new hard drive with equal or greater capacity. Remove the failed drive from the NAS, wait about 20 seconds (or until you hear two beeps), then remove the drive from its tray. Insert the new drive into the tray, install it, and then go to 'Main Menu > Storage Manager > Storage Space' to confirm the status shows 'Rebuilding'.
