If injecting your own gas, we recommend that
you use a flow meter at the inlet of the
instrument. If you measure the flow rate
leaving the instrument, it will be less, as the
internal plumbing and sensor creates a
restraint on the flow.
If you’d like to operate at a higher (or lower)
flow rate than 1000cc/min, then you will have
to recalibrate the O
2
span.
This will also require calibrating the O
2
zero.
In short, if you want to use the instrument out
of the box, then try to use a flow rate as close
to 1000 cc/min.
CONTINUOUS SAMPLING USING THE
OPTIONAL INTERNAL PUMP
The internal sampling pump (optional) will draw
about 5cc per second (~300cc/min) from your
sample gas, flow, or chamber.
When using the pump, it is recommended that
you have sufficient sample for analysis. In
other words, if the instrument takes 5 minutes
for a full response, and you use the internal
pump, it will draw a total of 1.5L of sample.
This makes sampling a 2L chamber
impossible, unless you return the sample back
to the chamber.
