PREPARATION
CONNECTING TO AC
POWER
Plug the clock radio’s power cord into
a standard AC outlet. The display
flashes.
BATTERY BACK-UP
WITH BATTERY
SENTINEL
Your clock radio has a back-up power
system that operates the clock and
alarm during a power failure. The clock
display goes off, but the clock operates
for at least 8 hours, and the alarm
sounds for at least 10 minutes, if set.
The BATTERY SENTINEL indicator, a
small red dot at the bottom right of the
display, appears if the battery is low, or
if one is not installed.
Installing a Back-up Battery
Your clock radio requires a 9-volt bat-
tery (not supplied) for its back-up pow-
er system. For the best performance,
we recommend an alkaline battery,
such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-553.
Caution
: Use only a fresh battery of
the required size and type.
Note
: To prevent unnecessary drain
on the battery, install it only after con-
necting the clock radio to AC power.
1. To remove the battery compart-
ment cover, press down and slide
it in the direction of the arrow.
2. Snap the clock radio’s battery
contacts onto the battery termi-
nals, then insert the battery into
the compartment. The BATTERY
SENTINEL indicator turns off.
3. Replace the cover.
Warnin
g
: Always dispose of old bat-
teries promptly and properly.
