Taking hold of tiller-delta with one-
hand, lift
tiller
-delta push down simultane
ously when
retracting the fold
-lever with the other-
hand
(Fig.2
3). This action will dis-engage the fold-
lock
internal
mechanism.
Then, whilst still holding the
fold
-lever open, lift-
up on the tiller delta and then
partially un
-
fold and rest on the support wheels
and release the fold
-lever.
• Check that the Smilie fold-lock mechanism has
engaged and the Scooter base is in the drive
position
(Fig.2 Pg 4). Note: If the lock
mechanism
does not
engage then the scooter may only be
partially un
-
folded (Fig.25). If so, repeat the steps
a
bove until locked in drive position.
• Raise the seat-back to upright, and then adjust
and secure
armrests to the upright positions
(Fig.2
6). Inspect the lower seat position indicator
(Fig
.27) and check that the lower-seat is secured in
the forward position.
• Locate fold-lever at the rear right-hand side of
the scooter (
Fig.22).
• Walk to the front area and stand directly facing
the Smilie. Place your foot (with appropriate foot-
we
ar
) on the front bumper/handle. Then with
adequate force and taking care, pull the tiller
-
delta
towards yourself until the fold
-
lock mechanism
engages, locking the Scooter in the
‘drive
’
position
(Fig 24).

Check ALL the following prior to use.
•
Tiller-lock is secured with tiller
•
Freewheel lever in ‘Drive’ position
•
Fold-lock mechanism engaged
•
Seat is in the forward locked position
•
Armrests are secured and at a suitable height
•
Seat-back is in the upright position
