BATTERY PARALLEL SWITCH
If the battery parallel switch fails to operate, check the
breaker located above the push button switch. Always
fi nd the cause of the problem before resetting the circuit
breaker.
A second area to investigate is the battery solenoid located
in the engine room. When the switch is pressed the solenoid
energizes the appropriate second battery for additional
engine cranking capability.
Normally, if you hear a solenoid click it is operating
properly. Check all solenoid and battery connections for
tightness.
Battery Parallel
Solenoid
If the battery switch (DC distribution panel) should lose
power to one of the batteries on later vessels, check the
breakers located on the engine forward bulkhead at the
port side of the battery switch panel. Look for a “popped
breaker. The above problem could be recognized by the
appropriate icon not being lighted at the DC distribution
panel. These breakers protect the charging/battery
circuitry. Always fi nd the cause of the overload before
resetting the circuit breaker.
