Volvo-Changing IPS Oil & Bypass Filter
Remember that each time the engine oil is changed so must
the oil and bypass fi lters.
1. Catch the used oil in a container that can be disposed
of in an environmentally friendly manner.
2. Unscrew the oil and bypass fi lters. You will need to use a
strap or metal banded oil fi lter wrench to loosen the fi lters.
Put the fi lters in a container and dispose of properly.
3. Clean the fi lter brackets. Place a small amount of fresh
oil on the new fi lter seal. Install them until the fi lter seal
contacts the bracket surface. Turn the fi lter an additional
1/2 to 3/4 of a turn. Do not overtighten the fi lters.
4. Start the engine and check for leaks. Recheck the oil level
and top off as needed.
