Volvo IPS-Engine Fresh Water System Overview
The engine’s fresh water system (cooling system),
ensures that the engine runs at the correct operating
temperature.
It is a closed type system and must be lled with
the correct mixture of the recommended water and
coolant.
The mixture is a 60% water and 40% concentrated coolant.
The coolant should contain ethylene glycol for internal
anti-corrosion protection and “pure” water. See your
nearest Volvo or Regal authorized dealer for pre-mixed
coolant. Always carry extra coolant on board as part of
your emergency kit.
Coolant must be used year round. Never substitute water
for the coolant mix as the engine may run “hot” and water
by itself provides no internal engine protection for the
cooling system parts.
The coolant loses its anti-corrosive agents over a period
of time and must be replaced just as the coolant in
your automobile. See the maintenance chart for change
intervals.
