Operating
modes
1.3.1
AUTO TUNING

[21]

Prepare
tuner
as described in
Section
i.1

None
of the receiving modes (buttons
[13]
through
[17])
should
be selected
(and
the LEDs
above
must
be dark). Can-
cel any active
function
by
pressing
the corresponding
button.

initiates
a
downward
station search
toward the
87.5
MHz
FM band
limit. The

[19]
initiates
an
upward station
search toward
the
108.00
MHz FM
band
limit.

search stops as
soon as a station

sufficient signal
strength

found.
The search
can be resumed
by again
pressing
the corre-
sponding
search button.

When
the
search
reaches
the lower
(87.5
MHz) or the upper
(108.0
MHz) FM
band limit, it is
automatically
restarted
until a
station is found.

lf one
of the AUTO TUNING
buttons
is
pressed
continously.
the tuning
range is
traversed faster
but without
searching for
stations. As soon
as the AUTO TUNING
button is released.

search continues
at the last frequency
displayed.

The
last
station found is
automatically
stored in memory. lt
can be recalled
at
any time by
pressing
RECALL AUTO

Manualtuning
[5]
through
[9]
-
Prepare tuner as described
in
Section
1.1.
-
lf the steps outlined in the
preceding
Section 1.3.1
have been
performed,
the tuner
will receive
a
given
frequency.
Manual
tuning can be
initiated from
this
(or
any other) frequency by
pressing
the
STEPS buttons.
-
The
<
50
kHz
button
[9]
decrements the tuning frequency
in
50
kHzsteps,the
>
50
kHzbutton
[B]
incrementsthefreque-
ncy
in
50
kHz steps.
-
lf either
button
is
pressed
continuously,
the tuning range
is tra-
versed in
50
kHz
steps until the button is released.
The TUNING
METER
[30]
indicates, whether or
not the station
received is tuned
on channel.
A station is optimally
tuned
if the
instrument
needle
is
positioned
exactly between
the two
bars.
lf
the
needle deflects
into the
negative range. the
frequency
should
be
increased, if the
needle deflects
into
the
positive
range, the
frequency should
be decreased.
lf a
station
cannot
be
accurately
tuned
with the
50
kHz
STEPS
buttons
[B]
and
[9],
the
station
is
broadcasting
on
a f requency of the 12.5
kHz or 25kHz
channel
pattern.
These stations
can be tuned
with the
12.5
kHz
STEPS buttons
[5]
and
[6].
The
frequency
of
the last manually tuned station
remains stored
in memory. lf in the
meantime the tuner
has
been operated
in a
different
mode
(e.9.
auto tuning).
this
station
can be
recalled
at
any time by
pressing
RECALL
