Paper Feed
The pick-up roller solenoid
turns on, releasing the
pick-up roller clutch. The
pick-up roller makes a
single rotation.
The pick-up roller moves a
sheet of paper to the paper
feed rollers.
The separation pad allows
only the top sheet of paper
to pass.
The pick-up roller has
smooth metal on one side.
This side faces the paper
after the pick-up roller
makes one turn, allowing
the paper to slide under it
easily.
The paper feed rollers feed
the paper past the
registration sensor and
then between the drum
and the transfer roller.

This is a typical friction pad feed system. (In this machine the friction pad is
