5. Type into the console ‘passwd’ and press enter
6. The console will prompt Old Password:. Enter the indicator’s serial number and press enter.
7. The console will prompt New Password:. Enter the new password and press enter.
8. Finally, the console will prompt Retype password:. Re-enter the new password and press enter.
9. The password will then be changed.
Warning!
The C500 prevents the user from setting weak passwords. If you encounter any error
while changing the password, simply restart the process at Step 2 and continue as
before.
23.4 Enabling External Access
It is recommended that the C500 only be connected to secure local networks. However it is recognised that in
some cases access from external hostile networks (e.g. the Internet) is required for remote sites. To secure the
C500 against threats from unauthorised users the device should be placed behind a firewall on a local network,
and a secure VPN should be used to access the local network remotely.
