If you want to mount test port adapters to your RF connector, see the application
note 1MA100.
4.10 Connecting to RF 50 Ω
To connect to "RF 50 Ω"
1. Before connecting to the "RF 50 Ω" connector on the front panel, proceed as
follows:
a) Prepare the "RF 50 Ω" connector. See "To prepare for connecting"
on page 24.
b) If activated, deactivate the RF output. In the home screen, select the block
"Level" > "RF On > Off".
If equipped with an option for rear panel connectors, prepare the "RF 50 Ω"
connector on the rear panel.
2. Connect to the "RF 50 Ω" connector. See "To connect to screwable connec-
tors" on page 25.
To prevent RF output switch-off
NOTICE! If you set a too high output level without a load connected to the
instrument, the reverse power can exceed a limit forcing the R&S SMA100B
to switch off the RF output.
Connect a load with sufficient return loss as given in the data sheet.
4.11 Connecting to Ref In/Ref Out
To connect to "Ref In"/"Ref Out"
For connection, the R&S SMA100B provides BNC connectors (reference signal
frequency f

< 1 GHz) or SMA connectors (f
ref
= 1 GHz).
1. Before connecting, prepare the Ref In/Ref Out connectors on the rear panel.
See "To prepare for connecting" on page 24.
