Figure-of-Eight
The ‘figure-of-eight’ knot is used as a stopper knot, preventing ropes from slipping
through fittings. Like the bowline, the ‘figure-of-eight’ knot unties easily once free of
load.
Make a loop in the end of the rope
Lead the tail underneath the standing end
of the rope
Lead the tail of the rope back through the
loop, and tighten
