Fitting Snow Chains

Chain Layout and Initial Placement

Lay out the chain neatly and pull the orange ring end (1) around the tyre, ensuring the ring (2) lies near the tyre's back.

Securing the Chain Around the Tyre Tread

Take both ends of the ring and pull them up around the tyre tread to begin securing the chain.

Connecting Chain Components

Hook the connecting pieces (3) together, then attach the orange hook (4) into the eyelet (5) on the upper wheel part.

Finalising Chain Attachment

Hook the grey hook (7) into the eyelet (8) and secure the eyelets (9) to the rubber tensioner (10).

Checking Chain Fitment

Ensure the chain mesh is evenly spread over the outer sidewall of the tyre for optimal performance.

Four-Wheel Drive Vehicle Instructions

Consult your vehicle's manual to determine the correct axle for fitting snow chains on a 4WD.

Removing Snow Chains

Initial Removal Preparation

Park the vehicle to halt the wheel with the orange hook (4) in position; unhook eyelets (9) from the tensioner (10).

Releasing the Tensioning Chain

Press the release button on the ratchet (6) to release the tensioning chain and pull it back.

Unhooking Main Connectors

Unhook the orange (4) and grey (7) hooks from their respective attachment points.

Final Chain Removal

Pull chain mesh to the centre to open connector (3), then lay chain aside and remove the second chain.

Drive-Specific Removal Guidance

Note the position of the orange hook (4) relative to the axle for front-wheel vs. rear-wheel drive removal.

Important Notes and Maintenance

Correct Tyre Size Matching

Ensure snow chain size precisely matches the tyre size designation for safety and proper fitment.

Chain Wear and Replacement

Do not use chains worn beyond 50% due to risk of breakage; replace worn chains promptly.

Speed Limit with Snow Chains

Maximum permitted speed when using snow chains is 50 kph (30 mph) as per traffic regulations.

Chain Maintenance and Cleaning

Wash chains in warm water after use and allow to dry; do not apply oil.
