TRANSPORT AND STORAGE
General Information
> Remove the packaging.
> Carry out an inspection of the product for transport damage or any missing parts.
> Contact RULMECA in the event of any problems.
Transport
To avoid transport damage and personal
injury, use a lifting device.
> Transport of Drum Motors must be carried out
by authorized personnel only.
> Ensure that the Drum Motor is properly secured
prior to transport.
> Use a lifting rope in accordance with the
maximum weight of the Drum Motor.
• The weight of the Drum Motor can be found
on the data plate or in the catalogue.
> Attach the lifting rope to the shaft ends.
Storage
> Keep the motor in a dry and enclosed/covered
location, protected from direct sunlight.
> Turn the Drum Motor shell 360° every 6 months
to lubricate all internal parts.
In case of a storage period of more than 6 months:
> Carry out a test of the Drum Motor before
operation.
> Properly attach the Drum Motor to a test frame
for a test run.
> Carry out a check of:
• the motor winding with an insulation tester,
• the winding resistance,
• and the thermal protector with a continuity
tester.
> Furthermore, connect the Pulley to the power
supply and carry out a test run for a minimum of
30 min to make sure there are no oil leaks.
Make sure that the body temperature
of the Pulley does not exceed 70 °C.
