2 Check the electronic control module's tem-
perature sensor input
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and
then back to the OFF position.
- Unplug the temperature sensor's 2-pin con-
nector.
- Connect an ISAT scan tool.
- Select "READ FUNCTIONS".
- Select "COOLANT TEMPERATURE".
The reading obtained on the ISAT scan tool should
be about - 40°C ( - 40 °F).
- Connect a jumper lead between pins 1 and 2 of
the temperature sensor connector.
The reading obtained on the ISAT scan tool should
be about+ 121°c (+ 261 °F).
Are all readings OK?
I YES I Change the temperature sensor and conti-
nue with point 3.
I NO I Rectify the lead in question and proceed to
point 3.
