SACHS special extracting tool for crankshaft oil seals
(without dismantling the engine)
FICHTEL & SACHS AG have developed a speci al extracting tool by means of which
damaged oil seal s can be replaced without a major disassembly of the engine being
ne cessary.
Engine troubles caused by leaking or damaged oil seals can thus be remedied in a
relatively short time.
When replacing oil sea ls, the following points should be borne in mind:

Before extracting oil seal be sure
to establish insta llation dimen -
sion x, o or y, in order t hat the
new oil seal can be fitted to the
same dimens i on.
Note :
If the correct instal lation dimen-
sion is n ot adhered to, e ngine
t ro ubl es may occur by clo s ed oil
bore s in the crankca se or by
rotating parts moving against
other parts.

If the o il sea l is locked towards
o ut side by m ea ns of a collar (a)
or other locking e lement, it can -
not be extracted.
