CORRECTION
A cell has an unusu-
ally low voltage at
the end of the charge
(Less than 1.5 V at
1.6 amps and + 20°C
(+68"F)).
Low capacity cell
(The cell shows an
opposite voltage or
a correct polarity
voltage of less than
1 V after a discharge
of 1 hour at 16 amps).
Cell with a swollen
case.
Cell with zero voltage
when the battery
circuit is open.
Low insulation.
The cell was operated at
temperatures and charge
rates that were more than
the limits and the sepa-
rator is damaged.
Usual wear after long
operation.
Unusual operation (Fre-
quent engine starts with
the battery) ; operation
at high temperatures,
with low electrolyte
level, etc.
Cell operated with low
electrolyte level ; dete-
rioration of separators
and damaged plates.
Short-circuited cell,
Leakage of electrolyte.
NOTE: If you charge
a cell with a quanti-
te of electrolyte
which is not suffi-
cient, this can cause
temperature to
increase very much.
Replace the cell
