Installation
5.3 Mounting the device
The activities listed below are necessary to
install the valve and before it can be started
up.
We recommend rst installing the valve into
the pipeline and mounting the actuator after-
wards.
Risk of valve damage due to excessively
high or low tightening torques.
Î Observe the specied torques when
tightening control valve components. Ex-
cessive tightening torques lead to parts
wearing out more quickly. Parts that are
too loose may cause leakage.
5.3.1 Installing the control
valve into the pipeline
1. Close the shut-off valves in the pipeline
at the inlet and outlet of the plant section
while the valve is being installed.
2. Prepare the relevant section of the pipe-
line for installing the valve.
Strainer:
Î Make sure the direction of ow of the
strainer and valve are identical.
Î Install the strainer with the lter ele-
ment facing downwards.
Î Allow sufcient space to remove the
lter.
3. Remove the protective caps from the
valve ports before installing the valve.
4. Lift the valve using suitable lifting equip-
ment to the site of installation (see the
'Lifting the valve' section). Observe the
ow direction through the valve. The ar-
row on the valve indicates the direction
of ow.
5. Make sure that the correct ange gaskets
are used.
6. Bolt the pipe to the valve free of stress.
7. Attach a support or suspension on the
valve, if necessary.
Insulation of cold systems
To insulate cold systems, we recommend to
proceed as follows:
1. Fill the plant and carefully rinse it.
2. Shut down the plant and let it heat up
until all the condensation water has dried
off.
Observe the following on installing the con-
trol valve:
− Make sure that the electric actuator re-
mains accessible after installation.
− Make sure that the plug stem can move
freely and does not touch the insulation.
− Make sure that the actuator stem does
not touch the insulation.
The insulation thickness depends on the me-
dium temperature and the ambient condi-
tions. 50mm is a typical thickness.
