The Sanremo F18 is a professional espresso machine designed for commercial use, available in 2-group and 3-group configurations. This guide provides essential installation, quick start, and maintenance information.

Function Description

The Sanremo F18 is an espresso machine that brews coffee and provides hot water and steam. It features multiple groups for simultaneous coffee preparation, a steam boiler for consistent steam production, and a hot water tap. The machine is designed for high-volume environments, ensuring efficient operation and consistent beverage quality.

Important Technical Specifications

Dimensions:

  • 2-Group: 35 2/4" (902 mm) wide x 25 2/4" (646.5 mm) deep x 3 2/4" (87 mm) high (to top of machine) x 20" (511 mm) high (overall height including cup warmer).
  • 3-Group: 42 1/4" (1072 mm) wide x 25 2/4" (646.5 mm) deep x 3 2/4" (87 mm) high (to top of machine) x 20" (511 mm) high (overall height including cup warmer).

Water Requirements:

  • Dedicated cold water line with shut-off valve.
  • Minimum incoming line pressure: 29 PSI / 2 BAR.
  • Maximum line pressure: 65 PSI / 4.5 BAR.
  • Total Dissolved Solids (TDS): 30-150 ppm.
  • Total Hardness: Below 85 ppm.
  • pH: 6.5-8.
  • Chlorides: 5-15 ppm (any presence of chlorides can cause corrosion).
  • Total Alkalinity: 35-75 ppm.
  • Total Chlorine: 0 ppm.
  • Iron: 0 ppm.
    • Note: Water levels outside these parameters can void the warranty. Consultation with a water filtration professional for testing and recommended systems is advised.

Installation Guidelines:

  • Installation must be performed by a professional technician. Improper installation can void the warranty, permanently damage equipment, and/or present burn and electrical hazards.
  • Consult with local municipalities for official electrical and plumbing codes/guidelines.
  • A 3" hole in the counter is recommended for the passage of electrical cord and water/drain lines.
  • Counter hole placement is recommended to be at the center of the machine and 12.5" inward from the edge of the drip tray.
  • The machine includes a 3/8" BSP water supply line and a drain hose for direct gravity drainage.

Usage Features

Display Readout: The machine features a digital display that provides real-time information:

  • Date and Time: (e.g., 10/2/2020, 16:17).
  • Mains & Pump Water Pressure (BAR): Indicates the current water pressure from the mains and the pump.
  • Steam Boiler Temp: Displays the current temperature of the steam boiler in Fahrenheit (e.g., 251°F).
  • Steam Boiler Pressure (BAR): Shows the pressure within the steam boiler (e.g., 1.2 BAR).
  • Programming Menu (Press and Hold): Accesses the machine's settings and configurations.

First Start (Boiler Fill) Procedure:

  1. Turn the main switch to position "1."
  2. Allow the steam boiler to auto-fill.
  3. Confirm successful boiler fill and that it has not timed out by referencing the water level on the display.
  4. If the machine times out, cycle the machine off/on (position "1") again and allow it to auto-fill. If it continues to time out, shut down the machine and re-check the inlet water line/filtration system and confirm water flow.
  5. Once the steam boiler is successfully auto-filled, turn on all groups and confirm water flow. Once water is flowing from the groups, turn them off and switch the main switch to position "2." The machine will then begin to heat.

Pump Adjustment:

  1. Prepare a portafilter with coffee at the desired dose/grind calibration and insert it into the group.
  2. Turn the group on by selecting the continuous (SR logo) button.
  3. Locate the pump adjustment knob (typically found beneath the group head) and set the desired pump pressure while the group is extracting coffee.

Programming Menu: The programming menu is accessed by pressing and holding the lower "3 lines" button on the display.

  • Programming Page 1 includes:

    • STANDBY MODE: Puts the machine into a low-power state.
    • NEXT PAGE: Navigates to the next programming page.
    • BARISTA LIGHTS: Controls the lighting for the barista workspace.
    • AUTO ON/OFF: Configures automatic power-on and power-off schedules.
    • CUP WARMER: Manages the cup warming function.
    • COUNTERS: Displays usage statistics.
    • RETURN TO MAIN DISPLAY: Exits the programming menu.
    • ALL GROUP CLEANING: Initiates a cleaning cycle for all groups simultaneously.
  • Programming Page 2 includes:

    • STANDBY MODE: Same as Page 1.
    • ALARMS: Displays any active machine alarms or error messages.
    • GROUP TEMPERATURE: Allows adjustment of individual group temperatures.
    • AUTOSTEAM MODES (MACHINES EQUIPPED W/ AUTOSTEAM ONLY): Configures settings for automatic steaming.
    • PRE-INFUSION SETTING: Adjusts the pre-infusion parameters for coffee extraction.
    • RETURN TO PAGE 1: Navigates back to the first programming page.

Maintenance Features

Adjusting Water Mix for Hot Water Tap: The water mix valve for the hot water tap is located above the machine drain. This allows for adjustment of the hot water temperature by mixing hot and cold water.

Individual Group Cleaning Mode: The machine supports individual group cleaning. To initiate this:

  1. Navigate to the cleaning mode (accessible via the programming menu or a dedicated button).
  2. Select the specific group to be cleaned.
  3. Press and hold the designated cleaning button (often represented by a coffee cup icon with "HOLD" text) to start the cleaning cycle for that group.
