Overview

The Sanremo F18SB is a professional espresso machine designed for commercial use, offering advanced features for brewing, maintenance, and programming. This guide provides essential information for installation, quick start, and ongoing operation.

Function Description

The Sanremo F18SB is an espresso machine capable of brewing coffee, dispensing hot water, and producing steam. It is available in 2-group and 3-group configurations, catering to different volume requirements. The machine features a dedicated steam boiler that auto-fills, ensuring consistent steam availability. Each group is equipped with volumetric programming capabilities, allowing users to pre-set desired coffee doses for consistency. The machine also includes a hot water tap with adjustable water mix for precise temperature control. A digital display provides real-time information on steam boiler temperature/pressure and water level, aiding in monitoring and operation.

  • Total Alkalinity: 35-75 ppm.
  • Total Chlorine: 0 ppm.
  • Iron: 0 ppm.
  • Note: Water levels outside these parameters can void the warranty. Consultation with a water filtration professional is recommended for testing and system recommendations.

Electrical Requirements:

  • Voltage: 220V (range 208-240V) 60Hz.
  • 2 Group:
    • Wiring: Single phase / 3 wire (2 hot + 1 ground).

Usage Features

First Start (Boiler Fill):

  • To initiate, turn the main switch to position "1". The steam boiler will auto-fill.
  • Monitor the water level on the display to confirm successful filling and ensure it has not timed out.
  • If the machine times out, cycle the machine off/on (position "1") again. If it continues to time out, re-check the inlet water line and filtration system for proper water flow.
  • Once the steam boiler is auto-filled, turn on all groups to confirm water flow, then turn them off and switch the main switch to position "2" to begin heating.

Pump Adjustment:

  • Prepare a portafilter with coffee at the desired dose/grind.
  • Insert the portafilter into the group and activate the continuous (SR logo) button.
  • While coffee is extracting, insert a stubby screwdriver into the pump hole and adjust to achieve the desired pressure.

Adjusting Water Mix for Hot Water Tap:

  • The water mix valve is located near the water pipe connection. This allows for precise temperature control of the hot water dispensed.

Group Volumetric Programming:

  • Press and hold the Sanremo logo (continuous) button on group 1 (leftmost group) until the touchpad LEDs flash and the pressure display reads "DOSES SETTING SELECT DOSE IN 30 S".
  • Insert a prepped portafilter with coffee into the group and select the desired dose button for programming.
  • Once the desired volumetric dose is reached, press the same dose button again to store the program.
  • Repeat this process for all remaining dose buttons.
  • The same procedure applies to programming the hot water tap dispensing volume.
  • After programming, avoid touching any group buttons for 30 seconds. The machine will then store the program and transfer it to the remaining groups.

Accessing Programming Menu:

  • Press and hold the Sanremo logo (continuous) button on group 1 until "HEATING CUP" is displayed.
  • Important: If the continuous button is released while "DOSES SETTING SELECT DOSE IN 30 S" is displayed, do not press group buttons, as this will overwrite volumetric programming. Wait 30 seconds for the volumetric programming message to disappear, then re-try holding the continuous button to enter the programming menu.

Programming Menu Options:

  • HEATING CUP: Cup warmer settings.
  • LED BAR: Barista lights settings (if equipped).
  • ECONOMY: Eco modes and settings.
  • DOSES SETTING: Fine-tune group recipes.
  • PRE-BREWING: Pre-brew settings.
  • FLUSH MESSAGE: Group flush notification to maintain optimal extraction temperature.
  • CLOCK ADJUST.: Date/time settings and auto on/off settings.
  • COUNTERS: Machine counters.
  • CLEANING GROUPS: Deep clean all groups. Once started, this process cannot be interrupted.
  • MENU EXIT: Exits programming.

Navigating Programming:

  • Long dose buttons: Used to change categories within the menu.
  • Short dose buttons: Light up when a category is selected and are used to change category values.
  • Continuous (Sanremo logo) button: Used to enter categories or store values.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning Groups:

  • The "CLEANING GROUPS" option in the programming menu allows for a deep clean of all groups. This feature is crucial for maintaining hygiene and optimal performance. Users should be aware that once initiated, this cleaning process cannot be interrupted.

Group Flush Notification:

  • The "FLUSH MESSAGE" setting provides notifications to flush groups, which helps maintain the ideal extraction temperature and overall coffee quality.

Water Quality Monitoring:

  • The manual emphasizes the importance of maintaining specific water quality parameters (TDS, hardness, pH, chlorides, alkalinity, chlorine, iron). Regular water testing and appropriate filtration systems are essential. Failure to adhere to these parameters can void the warranty and lead to equipment damage.

Professional Installation:

  • Installation must be performed by a professional technician. Improper installation can void the warranty, permanently damage the equipment, and pose burn and electrical hazards. Users are advised to consult local municipality guidelines for electrical and plumbing codes.

Warranty Terms:

  • Sanremo Srl guarantees machines and components against defective material/workmanship for 12 months from the invoice date.
  • The warranty does not cover faults from normal wear and tear, inappropriate use, non-original spare parts, non-compliance with the manual, accidental events, unauthorized modifications, tampering, or issues caused by inadequate water filtering or insect infestation.
  • Labor, diagnosis fees, travel fees, and freight costs for shipping are not included in warranty claims.
