Care and Maintenance
Service
Regular servicing by a Sartorius
technician will extend the service life
of your terminal and ensure its
continued weighing accuracy.
Sartorius can offer you service
contracts, with your choice of regular
maintenance intervals ranging from 1
month to 2 years.
Repairs
! Do not open the YPS02-X... AC
adapter (power supply) while
it is carrying current. Wait at least
10 seconds after disconnecting
it from power before beginning to
open the AC adapter (power
supply). Proper fitting of all
surfaces is essential for safe
operation of the device; for this
reason the device must be opened
and closed by a certified
technician. Use care in removing
and replacing the screws,
because scratches on the AC
adapter (power supply) void the
Ex-approval rating.
! A defective AC adapter (power
supply) must be disconnected from
power immediately. Repair work
must be performed by authorized
Sartorius service technicians using
original spare parts. Any attempt
by untrained persons to perform
repairs may result in considerable
hazards for the user. As long as
the terminal is still covered by the
warranty, send the entire terminal
to the factory for repairs to the AC
adapter (power supply).
! If a cable or cable connector is
defective or damaged, replace the
entire cable as a single unit.
Cleaning
! Unplug the FCT01-X terminal
from the wall outlet (mains supply).
If you have a data cable connec-
ted to the interface, unplug it from
the terminal.
! Make sure that no dust or liquid
enters the terminal housing.
! Do not use any aggressive
cleaning agents (solvents or similar
agents).
§ Clean the FCT01-X using a piece
of cloth which has been wet with
a mild detergent (soap).
! Do not wash down the equipment
with water or dry it with
compressed air; this is not
permitted.
Cleaning the Dust Cover
! Clean the dust cover outside the
hazardous area or location only.
! Do not use a dry cloth to wipe off
or rub the dust cover.
$ After cleaning, discharge the dust
cover to remove static electricity;
for example, wipe all surfaces with
a moistened and grounded cloth.
Replacing the Dust Cover
> Instructions for replacing a
damaged dust cover
§ Place the new dust cover on the
terminal and press down on the
front and back along the edges
until the cover is seated firmly
Safety Inspection
If there is any indication that safe
operation of the terminal with the AC
adapter or power supply is no longer
warranted:
§ Disconnect from AC power:
unplug the AC adapter/power
supply from the wall outlet (mains
supply)
> Lock the equipment in a secure
place to ensure that it cannot be
used for the time being
Safe operation of the terminal with the
AC adapter or power supply is no
longer ensured when:
– there is visible damage to the AC
adapter/power supply
– the AC adapter/power supply no
longer functions properly
– The AC adapter/power supply
has been stored for a relatively
long period under unfavorable
conditions
– the equipment has been exposed
to rough handling during shipment
In this case, notify your nearest
Sartorius Service Center or the
International Technical Support Unit
based in Goettingen, Germany.
Maintenance and repair work may
only be performed by service
technicians who are authorized by
Sartorius and who
– have access to the required
service and maintenance manuals
– have attended the relevant service
training courses
! The seals affixed to this equipment
indicate that only authorized
service technicians are allowed to
open the equipment and perform
maintenance work so that safe
and trouble-free operation of the
equipment is ensured and the
warranty remains in effect.
