3.8 Composition of the machine
The machine is composed of the following parts:
1. PUMP GROUP
2. WATERMAKER GROUP
3.8.1 Pump group
This pump draws sea water and sends it to the watermaker group, through the pre-filter.
The pump group is composed of the following components:
• 5 micron cartridge filter and accumulator
• Diaphragm pump
• Pressure transducer
• Pump box

Pressure transducer
Pressure transducer. It Is hydraulically connected to the pump group. It stops the system if the pump pressure
exceeds 9.5 bar or if it doesn’t reach 0,8 bar.
Pump box. Plastic Box with all the electric connections for the power supply of motor, motherboard, pressure
switches, remote panel and electrovalve.
Accumulator. This is an air accumulator installed after the cartridge filter group. Its function is to reduce and
stabilize the pressure peaks during the functioning of the watermaker. The device has to be pre-charged with
air through the Schrader valve. The pressure is about 4 Bar. The accumulator is already pre-charged to the
correct pressure.
