7. Maintenance procedures
Warning
Before carrying out any maintenance operation:
- switch off the generating set.
- disconnect the cap(s) of the spark plug(s) and disconnect the starter battery (if fitted).
Only use original parts or equivalent parts: risk of damage to the generating set.
7.1. Checking bolts, nuts and screws
To prevent faults or breakdowns, carefully check all the nuts, bolts and screws on a daily basis.
n Inspect the entire generating set before and after each use.
o Tighten any loose nuts or bolts.
Danger: The cylinder head bolts must be tightened by a specialist. Refer to the agent for your region.
7.2. Renewing the motor oil
Observe the environmental protection regulations (see § Environmental protection) and drain the oil into an appropriate container.
n Whilst the engine is still warm, place a suitable container underneath the oil drain plug (fig. A - mark 12), then remove the oil filler
cap (fig. A - mark 2) and the oil drainage plug.
o When the sump is completely empty, screw back the oil drainage plug.
p Fill-up with the recommended oil (see § Specifications), check the level (see § Checking the oil level).
q Replace and screw down the oil filler cap.
r After filling, check that there are no oil leaks.
s Wipe away any traces of oil with a clean cloth.
7.3. Replacing the oil filter
n Drain the engine oil (see § Changing the engine oil).
o Remove the oil filter (fig. A - mark 13) and dispose of it.
p Clean the oil filter support and coat oil filter seal with clean engine oil.
q Re-install a new oil filter.
r Screw-in the filter manually until the seal arrives at the end-stop and then screw it a further 1 ¾ turn or tighten it down with a torque
wrench (22 N.m).
s Refill with the specified amount of oil (see § Specifications).
t Check the oil level (see § Checking the oil level) and ensure there are no leaks.
