The Sencor SMF 2020WH is a versatile milk frother and warmer designed for domestic use, perfect for creating delicious milk froth and heating milk for various beverages. This appliance is suitable for use in staff kitchens, offices, workplaces, hotel and motel rooms, other living areas, and bed and breakfast establishments. It is not intended for outdoor use.
Function Description
The primary function of the Sencor SMF 2020WH is to froth and heat milk. It offers three distinct operating modes to cater to different preferences:
- Frothing and Heating Milk: This mode is ideal for preparing warm, frothed milk for lattes, cappuccinos, and other hot drinks. The frothing attachment rotates to create froth while simultaneously heating the milk to approximately 65 °C. This temperature is carefully maintained to prevent the milk from burning and to preserve its flavour characteristics. The process typically takes about 2 minutes.
- Heating Milk Without Frothing: If you only need warm milk without froth, this mode is perfect. The stirring attachment rotates to ensure even heating and prevent the milk from sticking to the inner wall of the kettle. The milk is heated to approximately 65 °C, maintaining its quality. This mode usually takes about 3 minutes.
- Frothing Milk Without Heating: For those who prefer cold froth, this mode allows you to create milk froth without heating the milk. The frothing attachment rotates to produce rich, creamy froth. This operation is quicker, taking approximately 1.5 minutes.
The appliance features a power button (A④) to initiate the desired operating mode and an indicator light (A③) that changes colour to signify the current status (red for standby, blue for operation, flashing blue for frothing without heating).
Usage Features
To ensure safe and effective operation, users should familiarise themselves with the following usage features:
- Placement: Always place the appliance on an even, dry, and stable surface, away from electric or gas stoves or other heat sources. It should not be used in the direct vicinity of bathtubs, wash basins, showers, pools, or other water sources.
- Attachments: The device comes with two attachments: a frothing attachment (A⑦) for making milk froth (with or without heating) and a stirring attachment (A⑧) for heating milk without frothing. Before use, select the appropriate attachment and secure it to the shaft inside the milk kettle (A②).
- Milk Level: When frothing and heating milk or frothing without heating, the milk level must not exceed the bottom level mark (100 ml) inside the kettle. For heating milk without frothing, the milk level must not exceed the top level mark (200 ml). Overfilling the kettle may cause milk to splash out during operation. It is recommended to use full-cream milk with a higher fat content (e.g., 3.5%) for optimal froth creation.
- Operation: After placing the kettle on its base (A⑤) and plugging in the power cord, the indicator light will turn red. Press the power button once for frothing and heating or heating without frothing. For frothing without heating, press and hold the power button for 2 seconds.
- Automatic Shut-off: Each operating mode ends automatically, and the appliance switches to standby mode, indicated by the red light.
- Safety Functions: The appliance has a safety function that temporarily disables operation if it is turned on 5 times consecutively without a break. The indicator light will flash blue, and the button will be unresponsive for approximately 5 minutes to prevent damage. After this period, the appliance will return to standby mode, ready for further use.
- Handling Hot Milk: Exercise extra caution when handling the kettle filled with hot milk. Do not open the lid (A①) while the appliance is in operation.
- Power Cord: Ensure the power cord does not touch hot surfaces and avoid placing heavy items on it. Disconnect the appliance by gently pulling the plug, not the cord, to prevent damage.
Maintenance Features
Proper maintenance is crucial for the longevity and performance of the Sencor SMF 2020WH:
- Before First Use: Before using the appliance for the first time, wipe the inside of the kettle with a cloth dampened in warm water and neutral kitchen detergent, then rinse and dry. Wash the attachments (A⑦, A⑧) and the removable lid (A①) in warm water with neutral kitchen detergent, rinse them under running water, and dry them thoroughly.
- Regular Cleaning: Always disconnect the appliance from the power socket and allow it to cool down before cleaning.
- Kettle Interior: After each use, clean the inside of the milk kettle (A②) using a cloth dampened in a solution of warm water and neutral kitchen detergent. Wipe the surface thoroughly with a damp cloth and then dry it. The kettle has a non-stick surface on the inside, which aids in cleaning.
- Attachments and Lid: Remove the frothing (A⑦) or stirring (A⑧) attachment and the lid (A①) after each use. Wash them in warm water with a neutral kitchen detergent, rinse under running water, and dry thoroughly.
- Kettle Exterior: Clean the outer surface of the kettle (A②) with a dry cloth. For heavier soiling, dampen the cloth in a weak solution of neutral kitchen detergent, then wipe with a lightly dampened cloth and dry.
- Base: The base (A⑤) should only be cleaned with a dry cloth.
- Prohibited Cleaning Methods: Do not wash the milk kettle (except for the removable lid) and the base under running water, and never submerge them in water or any other liquid. Do not use abrasive cleaning products, petrol, solvents, or steel wool, as these can damage the appliance.
- Dishwasher Safety: The attachments (A⑦, A⑧) and the lid (A①) are not suitable for dishwasher cleaning.
- Milk Reheating: Do not repeatedly heat up the milk. Always use a new batch of cooled milk for each heating operation to ensure optimal results and hygiene.
