Overview

This document describes the Shark DuoClean UV700 Series Performance Lift-Away Upright Vacuum, a versatile cleaning appliance designed for whole-home cleaning.

Function Description

The Shark DuoClean UV700 Series is an upright vacuum cleaner that offers powerful suction and a range of features for various cleaning tasks. Its primary function is to effectively remove dirt, dust, debris, and pet hair from different floor types, including hard floors and carpets. The vacuum incorporates DuoClean technology, which combines a soft roller and a brushroll to tackle both large debris and fine dust. The Lift-Away feature allows the user to detach the pod from the floor nozzle, transforming the upright vacuum into a portable canister vacuum for easier above-floor cleaning. This makes it suitable for cleaning stairs, upholstery, and other hard-to-reach areas. The Zero-M™ Technology is a self-cleaning brushroll feature designed to actively remove hair wrap, ensuring consistent performance.

Usage Features

The vacuum offers several user-friendly features to enhance the cleaning experience:

  • Assembly: The vacuum is easily assembled by connecting the motorized floor nozzle, vacuum pod, wand, handle, and hose, ensuring all connections click securely into place.
  • Power and Floor Settings: To operate, the user slides the Power/Surface Selector button to either "Hard Floor" or "Carpet" and then presses the selector button to turn on the power. The "Hard Floor" setting is ideal for delicate surfaces, while the "Carpet" setting provides faster brushroll spin for deeper carpet cleaning. The brushrolls will only spin when the wand is reclined.
  • Cleaning Modes:
    • Upright Mode: In this mode, the vacuum functions as a traditional upright, suitable for general floor cleaning. To engage the brushrolls, the user turns on the power, places a foot on the floor nozzle, and tilts the handle back.
    • Lift-Away Mode: This mode provides enhanced portability and versatility. The user can detach the pod from the floor nozzle by pressing the Lift-Away button, allowing for easy above-floor cleaning.
    • Above-Floor Cleaning with Wand: For extended reach, the wand can be detached from the pod by pressing the Wand Release button.
    • Above-Floor Cleaning with Handle: For closer, more controlled cleaning, the handle can be detached from the wand by pressing the Handle Release Latch.
  • Suction Control: The Suction Control Collar allows for variable suction adjustment. Sliding it to "MIN" reduces suction and increases maneuverability, which is useful for delicate carpets or rugs. Sliding it to "MAX" provides maximum suction for bare floors and stubborn messes.
  • Brushroll Indicator Light: This light provides visual feedback on the brushroll's status:
    • Solid Green: Indicates that the brushroll and Soft Roller are spinning and functioning correctly.
    • Solid Red: Signals a jam in the brushroll area, requiring the user to turn off the vacuum and clear any blockages.
    • Flashing Red: Indicates that the motorized floor nozzle is overheating. The user should turn off the vacuum, allow it to cool down, and then restart it on the "Carpet" setting.
  • Onboard Accessories: The vacuum comes with various accessories, including a Pet Power Brush, Crevice Tool, and Dusting Brush, which can be conveniently stored on the vacuum for easy access during cleaning. All accessories are compatible with both the wand and the handle.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal performance and longevity of the vacuum:

  • Emptying the Dust Cup: To empty, the user slides the buttons on each side of the handle up, tilts the dust cup, and lifts it to remove. Then, the lower release button is pressed to open the bottom of the dust cup and release debris. For collected debris on the lint screen, the top release button is pressed, and the handle is lifted to open, allowing for gentle brushing of the screen.
  • Cleaning and Replacing Filters: Filters should be cleaned regularly to maintain optimal suction.
    • Pre-Motor Filters: These filters should be cleaned every 3 months. They are accessed by removing the dust cup and lifting them out. They should be rinsed with cold water only and air-dried completely for at least 24 hours before reinstallation.
    • HEPA Filter: The HEPA filter should be cleaned every year. It is accessed by pressing the Filter Access button at the bottom of the Filter Cover, tilting the cover, and lifting it out. Like the pre-motor filters, it should be rinsed with cold water and air-dried for at least 24 hours.
  • Zero-M™ Technology and Brushroll Cleaning: The Zero-M™ technology actively removes hair wrap. If hair or fibers remain wrapped around the brushroll after continued use, the user can open the brushroll garage by sliding the release buttons on the floor nozzle away from them, lifting the lid, and carefully cutting away any remaining debris with scissors.
  • Soft Roller Cleaning: The Soft Roller can be removed from the nozzle by pulling its tab. Loose debris can be tapped off, or a dry towel can be used to wipe it clean. For deeper cleaning, the Soft Roller can be hand-washed with water only and air-dried completely for at least 24 hours before reinsertion.
  • Checking for Blockages: Regular checks for blockages are recommended in the hose, nozzle, wand, and accessories to ensure unrestricted airflow and prevent loss of suction. If a blockage is found, the vacuum should be turned off and unplugged before clearing the obstruction.

The vacuum is equipped with a motor-protective thermostat that automatically turns off the suction motor if the unit overheats. In such cases, the user should turn off and unplug the vacuum, empty the dust cup, clean the filters, check for blockages, and allow the unit to cool for at least 45 minutes before restarting.

This comprehensive set of features ensures efficient cleaning, ease of use, and straightforward maintenance for a consistently high-performing vacuum.
