The vacuuming function is activated by pulling and holding the vacuum trigger. This action creates suction to pick up dry debris such, as dust, pet hair, and small particles, into a dedicated dust chamber within the disposable pad. For wet mopping, users press and hold the spray button on the handle, which dispenses Shark Cleaner solution through a spray nozzle onto the floor. The disposable pad then absorbs the cleaning solution and mops the floor, effectively removing stuck-on dirt and grime.
The cordless design, powered by a rechargeable Li-Ion battery, offers freedom of movement without the restriction of power cords, making it convenient for cleaning large areas or multiple rooms. Assembly: The VACMOP unit comes partially assembled. Users need to align and insert the handle into the top of the pole until it clicks, and then align and insert the pole into the main body until it clicks. Ensuring all components are securely connected is crucial for proper operation.
Charging: Before first use, the Li-Ion battery must be fully charged, which takes approximately 3.5 hours. The standard charger plugs into an electrical outlet, and the charging connector plugs into the port on the back of the main body. Filling the Reservoir: The reservoir is filled with Shark Cleaner solution. The entire starter bottle of Shark Cleaner should be added before the first use. After filling, the lid should be pressed closed.
Attaching and Removing Pads: To attach a VACMOP Disposable Pad, place it on the floor with the dust chamber facing up. Align the front edge of the VACMOP base with the plastic bumper on the pad. Holding the handle, press the VACMOP base down until the pad clicks into place. For disposal, simply press the release button on the side of the VACMOP base to detach the dirty pad directly into the trash, avoiding contact with the grime.
Cleaning Modes: For best results, it is recommended to first use the vacuum function to remove dry debris, and then spray the Shark Cleaner to wet mop the floor. This two-step process ensures thorough cleaning by addressing both dry and wet messes.
Storage: After wet cleaning, the disposable pad should be removed before storing the unit. The VACMOP can be stored upright by leaning the back of the non-slip handle against a wall. Alternatively, it can be hung from a nail or wall hook (not included) by aligning the opening at the end of the handle over the hook or nail.
Battery Care: The Li-Ion battery is the power source for the VACMOP. It's important to follow all charging instructions carefully. The battery should not be stored at temperatures below 37.4°F (3°C) or above 104°F (40°C) to maintain long-term battery life. Charging should also occur within the 40°F (5°C) to 104°F (40°C) range to prevent damage and fire risk. The appliance should be stored indoors and at room temperature before operation.
Troubleshooting: The manual provides solutions for common issues. If the VACMOP is not picking up debris or has low suction, users should check if the disposable pad is securely attached, if it's full of debris and needs replacement, or if the battery charge is low. If the sprayer is not working, a low battery charge is a common cause.
Addressing Streaks: If streaks appear after wet mopping, several factors could be at play. The floor might not be fully dry yet, or it could have built-up grime that the VACMOP is gradually removing over several cleaning sessions. Using too much cleaning solution can also cause stickiness and residue, so reducing the amount sprayed may help. Lastly, using a fresh disposable pad for each mopping session can prevent reintroducing dirt onto the floors.
Pad Replacement: VACMOP Disposable Pads should be replaced when they become fully saturated, their dust bin is full, they are noticeably dirty, or if the VACMOP shows signs of reduced suction power. Only Shark® branded VACMOP disposable pads should be used.
General Maintenance: The VACMOP contains no serviceable parts, and users should not attempt to modify or repair the battery or the VACMOP themselves. To clean the surface of the VACMOP, it should be wiped with a dry cloth; the unit should not be immersed or sprayed with water. All operational triggers should be released before plugging in or unplugging the charger, or before any adjustment, cleaning, maintenance, or troubleshooting.
Battery Recycling: When the Li-Ion battery needs replacement, it must be disposed of or recycled according to local ordinances and regulations. It is illegal in many areas to place spent lithium-ion batteries in the trash. Users are advised to return spent batteries to an authorized recycling center or retailer.
