Why does my Sharp Air Conditioner fan run but the compressor doesn't?

  If the fan motor runs but the compressor doesn't operate in your Sharp Air Conditioner, any of the following could be the cause: * A defective selector switch: Change the switch. * A defective thermostat: Replace the thermostat. * A defective overload relay: Replace the overload relay. * A burnt-out compressor coil or main winding: Replace the compressor. * Disconnected or burnt-out wiring: Connect or change the wiring. * Defective switch contact: Change the switch. * A locked compressor: Replace the compressor. * Burnt out compressor auxiliary winding: Replace the compressor. * Burnt out overload relay contact: Replace the overload relay. * Defective capacitor: Replace the capacitor. * Short compressor winding: Replace the compressor. * A heat source near the air ...
