Overview

This document is a service manual for Sharp split system room air conditioners, specifically models AH-G13 and AH-PG15 for indoor units, and AU-G13 and AU-PG15 for outdoor units. It provides comprehensive information for service and maintenance, covering product specifications, external dimensions, wiring diagrams, electrical parts, microcomputer control system, functions, troubleshooting, refrigeration cycle, performance curves, disassembling procedures, and a replacement parts list.

Function Description

The device is a split system room air conditioner designed for cooling. It operates by controlling the compressor and fan motors based on room temperature and preset temperature settings. The unit features various operation modes including COOL and DRY, with automatic fan speed control and a freeze preventive function. It also incorporates timer functions (ON/OFF and 1-hour timer) and an auto-restart feature in case of power failure. A test mode is available for diagnostic purposes.

Usage Features

  • Temperature Control: The unit operates in COOL and DRY modes with thermostat lines controlling compressor and fan operation based on room temperature and preset settings.
  • Preset Temperature Range: 18°C to 32°C. If room temperature falls below 18°C, it's set to 18°C; if above 32°C, it's set to 32°C.
  • DRY Mode: Divides operation into Cooling, Dehumidifying, and Circulating zones, controlling compressor and fan speed accordingly (DH for cooling, DL for dehumidifying and circulating).
  • Fan Speed Control: Offers various fan speeds (DL, DH, CL, CAL, CM, CAH, CH) with corresponding RPMs, ranging from 800 to 1170 RPM. An automatic fan speed feature adjusts fan speed based on thermostat lines C1 to C3 in COOL operation.
  • Freeze Preventive: Automatically turns off the compressor if the indoor pipe temperature falls below 3°C for 3 minutes or more during cool or dry operation, and turns it back on when it rises above 7°C.
  • Timer Functions: Includes ON/OFF timer and a 1-hour timer. The 1-hour timer has priority over other timer operations.
  • Automatic Air Conditioning: Automatically sets the operation mode and preset temperature based on room temperature at startup.
  • Auto Restart: If JP5 is ON, the unit restarts in the same operation mode after a power failure. If JP5 is OFF, this function is disabled.
  • Test Run Mode: Activated by pressing the "AUX" button for 5 seconds or more, allowing for continuous compressor operation in cool mode or dehumidifying zone operation in dry mode.

Maintenance Features

  • Disassembly Procedures: Detailed instructions with images are provided for disassembling both indoor and outdoor units, including steps for removing panels, filters, electrical components, and refrigeration cycle parts.
  • Wiring Diagrams: Comprehensive wiring diagrams for both indoor and outdoor units are included to aid in electrical troubleshooting and component identification.
  • Electrical Parts List: Lists key electrical components such as compressor, fan motors, capacitors, transformer, and fuses, along with their models, remarks, and locations (indoor/outdoor).
  • Microcomputer Control System: Electronic control diagrams and explanations of the microcomputer's role in controlling various functions are provided.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: A flowchart-based troubleshooting guide helps diagnose issues such as the unit not functioning, no cooling, or compressor not operating. It includes steps for measuring voltages and resistances.
  • Diagnosis Procedure: Explains how to interpret LED indicators (Timer LED, Operation LED) for diagnosing issues like indoor fan motor failure, thermistor open/short states, and louver unit installation problems.
  • Thermistor Properties: A graph and table detail the resistance properties of indoor thermistors (room temperature and heat exchange) to assist in checking their functionality.
  • Washable Air Filters: The polypropylene net air filters are washable, simplifying routine maintenance.
  • Insulation Resistance Check: After repair or parts replacement, it is recommended to measure the insulation resistance; if it's below 1MΩ, further inspection and repair are required.
