3.5.1· Typewriter keyboard
Except for the special control keys, several characters are assigned to each key
on
the keyboard. The
character entered when a key is pressed depends
on
the
input
mode selected
by
the special keys.
The
input
modes are
as
follows.
(1) Normal mode . .

. This mode
is
automatically entered when the BASIC interpreter is loaded.
In this mode, the
ASCII character (uppercase
or
lowercase) shown on
top
of
each key
is
entered when
that
key
is
pressed.
(2) Graphic mode
......
. . This mode is entered when the I
GRAPH
I key
is
pressed. In this
mode
,
the graphic
pattern
shown
on
the left front
of
each key
is
entered when
that
key is pressed. The graphic
pattern
shown
on
the right
front
of
each
key
is
entered
by
pressing
that
key together with the shift key. Pressing the
I ALPHA I key returns
input
to the normal mode.
Pressing
the
space bar enters a
sp~ce
"regardless
of
the
input
mode.
