G. The PAUSE Statement
The PAUSE statement is a se mi·automatic form of the PRINT statement. It displays the
various items in its associated list for a fixed and brief time period. The user is thus freed
from
the burden of prodd ing SHARP to continue by pressing ENTER. Think of the PAUSE as a
PRINT stateme nt followed by a cou ntdown, Wh en the countd own is over the pr 09ram continues.
The formats
of the PAUSE statement arc id ent ical to those of the PRINT stat ement, All of
the various techniques which we ha ve discussed for the PR IN T statement arc applicable to the
PAUSE sta t em ent, although the resulting outpu t will, of course, vary slightly. To illustrate one
