What to do if my Shindaiwa T235 Trimmer engine does not start?
- PPatricia ShermanAug 13, 2025
If your Shindaiwa Trimmer engine doesn't start, there could be several reasons. First, ensure the fuel is fresh, clean, and of the correct mixture (unleaded gasoline with a pump octane of 89 or higher mixed with an air cooled engine oil that meets or exceeds ISO-L-EGD and/or JASO FD classifi ed oils at 50:1 gasoline/oil ratio). Also, make sure the ignition switch is in the “I” (ON) position. Check the spark plug; if it's fouled or improperly gapped, clean and gap it according to the specifications. If the plug is damaged or the wrong size, replace it, consulting the Specifications section for the correct type and gap. If the priming pump is not functioning properly or the ignition ground is shorted, consult an authorized Shindaiwa servicing dealer.
