Reloading non-volatile SIMOTION data
SIMOTION data backed up on a CompactFlash Card with _savePersistentMemoryData is
restored in the following cases:
1. after replacing a module, refer to section Replacing modules (spare part scenario)
(Page 165).
2. after an ov
erall reset, refer to section Resetting the memory of SIMOTION D410
(Page 150).
3. by
switch setting, refer to section Deleting/restoring non-volatile SIMOTION data
(Page 207).
To re
store the data backed up via the Service selector switch or IT DIAG, the existing
backup files PMEMORY.XML and PMEMORY.BAK in the "USER\SIMOTION" directory on
the CompactFlash Card must be deleted. See also Section Deleting/restoring non-volatile
SIMOTION d
ata (Page 207).
Power-up and non-volatile SIMOTION data
The table below lists the cases that can arise during power-up in conjunction with the non-
volatile SIMOTION data and explains how they are handled.

SIMOTION data. The PROFIBUS address in non-volatile
data is therefore valid, for example.
2 The non-volatile SIMOTION data is invalid and there is
no backup file (PMEMORY.XML) and no backup copy
of the backup file (PMEMORY.BAK).
SIMOTION D410 copies the factory defaults to its non-
volatile SIMOTION data and restarts using this data. The
default PROFIBUS address is valid in this case, for
example.
3 The non-volatile SIMOTION data is invalid and a
backup file (PMEMORY.XML) exists and is valid
SIMOTION D410 copies the contents of the backup file to
its non-volatile SIMOTION data and starts using this data.
4 The non-volatile SIMOTION data is invalid, the backup
file is invalid and there is no backup copy of the backup
file (PMEMORY.BAK).

Non-volatile SIMOTION data diagnostics
Users can determine the status of non-volatile SIMOTION data by reading the diagnostic
buffer and the system variables.
