Why is there inadequate strap tension with Signode PRHM-34 Tools?
    • V
      Vanessa WilsonAug 1, 2025
Inadequate strap tension can occur for several reasons. It could be due to using the wrong type of strap, incorrect tool operating pressure, a tension regulator set too low, clogged air supply components, the tool operating too dry, poor air delivery supply, or the wear plug interfering with the strap. To resolve this, ensure you're using Signode lubricated strap and that the air pressure is between 70-90 psig (4.8-6.2 bar). Adjust the tension regulator, check for air flow restrictions in the regulator and filter, lubricate the tool by pouring a tablespoon of lubricating oil into the inlet, check for supply hose restrictions, and verify the wear plug isn't damaging the strap.

What to do if sealing and cut-off is incomplete with Signode PRHM-34 Tools?
    • J
      Jacob WileyAug 5, 2025
Incomplete sealing and cut-off can happen if you're using the wrong seals, the tool's operating pressure is incorrect or the tension regulator is set too low, the sealer mechanism is worn or broken, or the diaphragm is worn or broken. To fix this, first verify that you are using the correct Signode seals. Ensure that a minimum of 70 psig (4.8 bar) is supplied to complete the sealing and cut off cycle. Then, inspect the jaws, side plates, notcher, cutter, and the leading edge of the tensioner foot for sharpness, replacing them if necessary. Finally, check the diaphragm for any damage and replace it if needed.

Why is the lower strap slipping through the seal when using Signode PRHM-34 Tools?
    • A
      Alexis WilliamsonAug 10, 2025
The lower strap can slip through the seal due to several reasons: using improper seals, having incorrect tool operating pressure or a tension regulator set too high, or the strap tail being too short. To address this, first ensure you are using the correct Signode seals. Then, decrease the tension by adjusting the regulator on the air motor. Finally, increase the length of the tail strap under the seal.

What causes feedwheel milling or slipping in Signode PRHM-34?
    • R
      Richard KingAug 14, 2025
Feedwheel milling or slipping can occur if the feedwheel teeth are packed with dirt or grit, the teeth are worn or chipped, the feedwheel clearance is excessive, the feedwheel shaft DU bearing is elongated, or the feedwheel mechanism doesn't pivot freely. To resolve this, clean the feedwheel teeth. Check the feedwheel and replace it if the teeth are broken or blunt. Check the feedwheel clearance. Replace the DU bearing if necessary. Check the feedwheel pivoting for freedom of movement by squeezing the handle and air motor together.

What causes low joint strength in Signode PRHM-34 Tools?
    • K
      Kelly NicholsAug 18, 2025
Low joint strength can be attributed to using improper seals or having a worn or broken sealer mechanism. To address this, first verify that you are using the correct Signode seals. Then, replace any worn or broken jaws, notchers, side plates, or pins.

Why is the lower strap slipping through the seal and the seal buckling with Signode Tools?
    • V
      Vanessa HowardAug 22, 2025
If the lower strap is slipping through the seal and the seal is buckling, it could be due to using improper seals or having incorrect tool operating pressure, specifically a tension regulator set too high. To fix this, first ensure that you are using the correct Signode seals. Then, decrease the tension by adjusting the regulator on the air motor.

What to do if the seal is slipping into the nose of Signode PRHM-34?
    • K
      Kelly PerryAug 27, 2025
If the seal is slipping into the nose of the tool, the cause might be improper seals or a worn tensioner foot. You should first check that the proper Signode seals are being used. Then, inspect the slot in the tensioner foot. The slot width should be .045" to .053" (1.15mm - 1.35mm). If the opening exceeds this range, replace the tensioner foot.
