Body water percentage
NOTE: the diagnostic value for the body
water percentage is not suited to determine
water retention (e. g. age-related) on a med-
ical basis. If necessary, ask your doctor.
Basically, a high body water percentage is
considered to be of advantage.
Since muscles contain a great amount of wa-
ter and fat little, people with a low body fat
percentage and high muscle percentage
usually have a high body water percentage.
In contrast, people with a high body fat per-
centage and low muscle percentage usually
have a low body water percentage.
Based on the following tables, you can de-
termine the range in which your body water
percentage lies.
Muscle percentage
The muscle percentage increases with phys-
ical training. The average muscle percent-
age decreases with age. On average,
women have a lower muscle percentage
than men.
