To Time the Sewing Hook
Remcjve presser foot, slide plate, throat plate and bobbin
case. Take out the two screws (ES,Flg.30) and remove feed dog.

To determine that the hook Is correctly timed, place a new
needle In the machine, then turn the balance wheel over toward
you until the LOWER TIMING MARK on the needle bar Is centered
with the lower end of the needle bar bushing as shown at (Q,Flg.
21)sWhen the needle bar Is on its upward stroke. With the
needle bar In this position, the point of the hook should be at
the center of the needle as shown at (R,Fig.21). The inset in
circle at the left of Fig.21 plainly shows this position of the
hook point relative to the needle.
