      If the red LED on your SMA Inverter is continuously illuminated, it indicates a ground fault in the PV generator or a defective varistor. The installer needs to fix the ground fault before you reconnect the string. Do not reconnect the faulty string. Close the Sunny Boy. It is also possible that one of the thermally monitored varistors is defective. In that case, check the varistors.

      If the red LED on your SMA Inverter is continuously on, it indicates a ground fault in the PV generator or a defect in one or more of the varistors for overvoltage protection. The installer of the PV generator must fix the ground fault in the affected string before you reconnect it to the Sunny Boy. Do not reconnect the faulty string. You should also check the varistors.

      If there is no conducting connection between connectors B and C in your SMA Inverter, the varistor is not working and needs to be replaced. SMA Solar Technology recommends replacing both varistors, which can be ordered directly from SMA Solar Technology.
