Overview

This document serves as a comprehensive manual for a refrigeration appliance, outlining its functions, usage, maintenance, and installation procedures. It emphasizes safety, proper operation, and care to ensure the appliance's aesthetic and functional longevity.

The appliance is primarily designed for the refrigeration and conservation of fresh and frozen foods in a domestic or similar environment. This includes staff kitchen areas, farmhouses, hotels, motels, residential environments, bed and breakfast establishments, and catering applications. It is not intended for professional or commercial use, nor as a built-in appliance. The appliance is not designed to operate with external timers or remote-control systems.

Function Description

The appliance features a Freezer compartment for storing frozen foods, freezing fresh foods, and producing ice cubes. A Refrigerator compartment is dedicated to storing fresh foods. It includes a Fruit and vegetable drawer for optimal storage of produce, maintaining a constant humidity level. Interior lighting illuminates the appliance when the door is opened. Temperature control is managed via a Thermostat knob, allowing users to set the desired temperature for both refrigerator and freezer compartments. The Rapid freeze function enables quick freezing of large quantities of food in the freezer compartment, which should be activated 24 hours before storing food and deactivated 24 hours after inserting fresh food to save energy.

Usage Features

Temperature Setting: The thermostat knob allows for temperature adjustment from position 1 (minimum) to 5 (maximum). Increasing the position decreases the temperature in the refrigerator compartment. The appliance can be switched off by setting the knob to the 'O' position.

Using the Accessories:

  • Shelves: These can be positioned at different heights within the refrigerator and freezer compartments to suit user needs. They can be removed by pulling them outwards. Perishable foods should be placed at the rear of the shelves where the temperature is lower.
  • Fruit and Vegetable Drawer: Located at the bottom of the refrigerator compartment, it comes with a glass shelf to cover fresh foods requiring constant humidity. Condensation may form on the glass shelf when storing high-water-content vegetables, which is a normal phenomenon.
  • Door Balconies and Shelves: These are suitable for storing eggs, butter, dairy products, conserves, and small food packages/containers. The lower part of the door includes a shelf specifically for bottles. Users should avoid placing excessively heavy bottles on this shelf and ensure they do not drop when inserted.

Arranging Food in the Refrigerator Compartment: Food should be wrapped and covered hermetically to preserve flavor, moisture, and freshness, prevent contamination, and control humidity levels. Hot foods and drinks must be allowed to cool to room temperature before being placed in the appliance.

Storage Life Table (Refrigerator):

  • Eggs, smoked meats, marinated foods, cheese: max 10 days
  • Root vegetables: max 8 days
  • Butter: max 7 days
  • Pastries, fruit, ready meals, fresh meat: max 2 days
  • Fish, minced meat, seafood: max 1 day

Using the Freezer Compartment:

  • Packaging: Fruit and vegetables should be packed in portions of no more than 1 kg, while meat and fish should be in portions of up to 2 kg. Small packages freeze faster, preserving nutritional properties. Foods should be packaged in hermetically sealed containers, expelling as much air as possible. Suitable freezer bags/containers should be used instead of paper or shopping bags.
  • Cooling: Hot foods and drinks must be allowed to cool to room temperature before freezing.
  • Avoid Contact: Frozen food should not come into direct contact with fresh food intended for freezing.
  • Storage: Bagged frozen vegetables, ice, and ice cream should be stored appropriately.

Frozen Foods Storage Life Table:

  • Fruit, beef: max 10-12 months
  • Vegetables, veal, poultry: max 8-10 months
  • Game: max 6-8 months
  • Pork: max 4-6 months
  • Mince: max 4 months
  • Bread, desserts, cooked foods, oily fish: max 3 months
  • Offal: max 2 months
  • Sausages, lean fish: max 1 month

Defrosted Foods: Defrosted food should be consumed as soon as possible. Partial defrosting can reduce the nutritional value of foodstuffs.

Noises During Operation: The appliance uses a compression system, which may produce a humming sound when the compressor operates. A gurgling noise from the coolant flowing through pipes is also normal. If noises become too loud, users should check that the appliance is level, drawers and shelves are correctly positioned, bottles and containers are stable, and the fridge is not in contact with other furniture or appliances.

Turning the Appliance Off: For long periods of disuse, the appliance should be unplugged and emptied.

Storage Advice:

  • General: Always check expiry dates on food packaging. Foodstuffs should be stored in closed or pre-packaged containers to prevent moisture and odor exchange. Perishable products should be removed if the appliance will be unused for a long period.
  • Refrigerator Door: Eggs, butter, cheese in upper/central parts; drinks, bottles, cans in the lower part.
  • Refrigerator Compartment: Conserves, wine, biscuits in the upper part; dairy products, ready meals, pastries, fruit juices, beer in the central part; meats, cold cuts in the lower part; fresh and tropical fruit, vegetables, carrots, potatoes, onions in the fruit and vegetable drawer.
  • Freezer Compartment: Mark food type, quantity, and freezing date on packaging. Use small, cold containers. The maximum quantity of fresh foods that can be frozen at once is indicated on the nameplate. Use suitable freezer bags, tinfoil, cling-film, and freezer containers. Avoid paper bags, cellophane, or pre-used freezer bags.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning the Appliance:

  • General Safety: Always refer to general safety instructions before cleaning.
  • Antibacterial Protection: The interior walls have antibacterial protection, but regular cleaning is necessary.
  • Outside: Clean with water or alcohol-based liquid detergents (e.g., window cleaning products). Avoid aggressive detergents and rough sponges. Use a soft brush to remove dust from the condenser at the rear. Clean the tank above the compressor.
  • Inside: Clean with diluted liquid detergent, warm water, and a little vinegar. Door balconies and shelves can be removed by tapping them upwards. Remove ice thicker than 3-5 mm without using sharp objects or spray products.
  • Condenser: Clean periodically (if accessible) to prevent efficiency loss.

Defrosting:

  • Refrigerator Compartment: Automatic defrosting. Melted ice is channeled to a pan at the back where it evaporates.
  • Freezer Compartment: Manual defrosting is required when frost or ice exceeds 2 cm.
    1. Set the thermostat to maximum a few hours before defrosting to lower food temperature.
    2. Unplug the appliance.
    3. Remove frozen foods and protect them from thawing.
    4. Wait for ice to thaw, then remove water with a sponge/absorbing cloth.
    5. Leave the door ajar to prevent unpleasant odors.
    • Caution: Do not use electrical appliances (e.g., hair dryers) or sprays for defrosting, as plastic parts may be damaged.

Interior Lighting: If damaged, it must be repaired by Technical Service only.

Troubleshooting ("What to do if...")

  • Appliance not working: Check if plugged in and main switch is on.
  • Compressor functions too often/continuously: Room temperature too high, door opened too often/long, door not closing/sealing properly, freezer overloaded, insufficient air circulation around sensor, condenser dirty.
  • Excessive ice/condensation in refrigerator: Door opened too often/long, hot foods placed inside, foodstuffs/containers touching rear wall, damaged/dirty door seal.
  • Refrigerator compartment not cold enough: Thermostat set too high, door opened too often/long, door not closing/sealing properly, room temperature too high.
  • Refrigerator compartment too cold/food freezing: Thermostat set too low, foodstuffs not in suitable containers/bags, wet fruit/vegetables, foodstuffs against rear wall.
  • Freezer compartment not cold enough: Thermostat set too high, door opened too often/long, door not closing/sealing properly, damaged/dirty door seal, food to be frozen contains large quantities of sugar.
  • Excessive ice in freezer compartment: Thermostat set too low, room temperature too high, door opened too often/long, door not closing/sealing properly, damaged/dirty door seal, hot foods placed inside.
  • Doors hard to open after closing: This is due to vacuum created by cooling warm air; considerable strength may be required.

Installation:

  • Electrical Connection: Check mains characteristics against the identification plate. Ensure plug and socket are compatible. Avoid adapters, gang sockets, or shunts. Plug must be accessible. Leave appliance standing vertically for at least two hours before first use. Power cable replacement must be done by authorized technician.
  • Positioning: Install in a dry place with satisfactory ventilation. Maintain at least 3 cm from electrical/gas cookers and 30 cm from combustion heaters/radiators. Avoid heat sources; if unavoidable, use suitable insulation. Leave at least 5 cm clearance if installed under wall units. Ensure sufficient space for door opening and drawer/shelf removal. Level the appliance using its feet. Lean slightly towards the rear for proper door closure. Ensure door seals close hermetically.
  • Spacers: Two plastic spacers are provided to ensure proper condenser cooling and prevent the appliance from being placed too close to the wall.
  • Climate Class: The appliance's climate class (stated on the nameplate) indicates suitable ambient temperature conditions.
  • Seal Pressure: Do not press, tear, or detach the seal from the door.
  • Post-Installation Check: A few days after installation, check level adjustment, stability, and door seal hermeticity. Re-adjust if necessary.

The appliance contains a small quantity of isobutane (R600a), and care must be taken not to damage the cooling circuit during transport, installation, and cleaning. Ventilation openings around the appliance or in the nearby area must be kept free from obstructions.
