Overview

This document provides comprehensive information about a refrigerator-freezer appliance, covering its functions, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description

The appliance is a refrigerator-freezer designed for the refrigeration and conservation of fresh and frozen foods in the home. It features a freezer compartment for storing frozen foods, freezing fresh foods, and producing ice cubes, and a refrigerator compartment for storing fresh foods. A fruit and vegetable drawer is included for maintaining a constant humidity level for produce. Interior lighting illuminates the appliance when the door is opened. The appliance is not intended to be used as a built-in appliance, nor is it designed for professional and commercial use. It is suitable for domestic or similar environments, such as staff kitchen areas, farmhouses, hotels, motels, bed and breakfast establishments, and catering applications. It is not designed to operate with external timers or remote-control systems.

Important Technical Specifications

The appliance operates with a compression cooling system. It contains a small quantity of isobutane (R600a) as a refrigerant. The energy label indicates an efficiency class "F" for its light sources. The climate class (SN, N, ST, T) determines the suitable room temperature range for operation, from +10°C to +43°C. The appliance can be used up to a maximum altitude of 2,000 meters above sea level.

Usage Features

  • Temperature Setting: A thermostat knob allows users to set the temperature inside the refrigerator and freezer compartments, with settings ranging from 1 (minimum) to 5 (maximum). Increasing the setting from 1 to 5 decreases the temperature in the refrigerator compartment.
  • Rapid Cooling Function: This function quickly cools large quantities of freshly stored food and drink. It is activated by turning the thermostat knob to the "SF" position and remains active for a maximum of 48 hours. To save energy, it can be stopped once food or drink has cooled by returning the knob to a desired position between 1 and 5.
  • Shelves: The shelves can be positioned at different heights on the guides to accommodate various food items. They can be removed by pulling them outwards. Perishable foods should be placed at the rear of the shelves where the temperature is lower.
  • Door Balconies and Shelves: These are suitable for storing eggs, butter, dairy products, conserves, small food packages/containers, and bottles. Heavy bottles should be avoided on the lower shelf, and care should be taken to prevent them from dropping when inserted.
  • Arranging Food: Food should be wrapped and covered hermetically on the shelves to preserve flavor, moisture, and freshness, prevent contamination, and control humidity levels. Hot foods and drinks must be allowed to cool to room temperature before being placed in the appliance.
  • Freezer Compartment Use: For optimal freezing, fruit and vegetables should be packed in portions of no more than 1 kg, and meat and fish in portions of up to 2 kg. Small packages freeze faster, preserving nutritional properties. Foods should be packaged in hermetically sealed containers, expelling as much air as possible. Suitable freezer bags/containers should be used instead of paper or shopping bags.
  • Defrosted Foods: Defrosted food should be consumed as soon as possible. Partial defrosting can reduce the nutritional value of foodstuffs.
  • Turning Off: For long periods of disuse, the appliance should be unplugged, and its compartments emptied.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning: The appliance should be cleaned regularly. The exterior can be cleaned with water or alcohol-based liquid detergents, avoiding aggressive detergents and rough sponges. A soft brush can remove dust and fume deposits from the condenser at the rear. The tank above the compressor should also be cleaned. The interior can be cleaned with diluted liquid detergent, warm water, and a little vinegar.
  • Removable Parts: Door balconies and shelves can be removed by tapping them upwards on their insertion zones.
  • Defrosting the Refrigerator Compartment: This process is automatic. Any ice that forms on the refrigeration plate melts when the compressor is idle, and the defrost water is channeled to a dedicated pan at the back of the appliance for evaporation.
  • Defrosting the Freezer Compartment: Manual defrosting is required when frost or ice exceeds 2 cm. Before defrosting, the thermostat should be set to the maximum value to lower the temperature of frozen foods. The appliance should then be unplugged, frozen foods removed and protected from thawing, and melted ice water removed with a sponge/absorbing cloth. After defrosting, the door should be left ajar to prevent unpleasant odors.
  • Interior Lighting: If damaged, the interior lighting must only be repaired by Technical Service.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides guidance for common issues such as the appliance not working, the compressor running too often or continuously, excessive ice or condensation, insufficient cooling, freezing foodstuffs, and misaligned doors.
  • Storage Advice: Always check expiry dates on food packaging. Foodstuffs should be stored in closed or pre-packaged containers to prevent moisture and odor exchange. Perishable products should be removed if the appliance will be unused for a long period. Specific recommendations are given for storing different food types in various parts of the refrigerator and freezer.
  • Energy Saving: Users are advised to reduce door opening frequency and duration, clean the condenser periodically, defrost frozen food in the refrigerator compartment, and note that shelf height does not affect energy consumption.
