Overview

This document describes a refrigerator-freezer appliance, providing detailed instructions for its safe use, installation, operation, and maintenance.

Function Description:

The appliance is a refrigerator-freezer designed for domestic or similar environments, such as staff kitchen areas, farmhouses, hotels, bed and breakfasts, and catering applications. It is not intended for professional or commercial use, nor for operation with external timers or remote-control systems. Its primary function is the refrigeration and conservation of fresh and frozen foods. The appliance features separate compartments for refrigeration and freezing, cooled by a compression system.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Dimensions: The manual provides detailed diagrams with overall dimensions. The appliance height ranges from 1715-1730 mm, width is 601 mm, and depth is 495.5 mm (excluding door handles). When the door is open at 90 degrees, the width extends to 764 mm and depth to 1197 mm. At 110 degrees, the width is 926 mm and depth 1158 mm.
  • Climate Class: The appliance's climate class (SN, N, ST, T) is indicated on the nameplate and determines the suitable room temperature range for operation:
    • SN (Subnormal): +10°C to +32°C
    • N (Normal): +16°C to +32°C
    • ST (Subtropical): +18°C to +38°C
    • T (Tropical): +18°C to +43°C
  • Refrigerant: The appliance contains a small quantity of isobutane (R600a), a flammable material. Care must be taken not to damage the cooling circuit during transport, installation, and cleaning.
  • Altitude: This appliance can be used up to a maximum altitude of 4,000 metres above sea level.
  • Electrical Connection: The appliance must be connected to ground in compliance with electrical safety standards. The mains characteristics must match the data on the identification plate. The power supply cable, if damaged, must be replaced by authorised technical support.
  • Ventilation: Proper ventilation is crucial for efficient operation. The appliance should be installed at least 3 cm away from electrical or gas cookers and 30 cm from combustion heaters or radiators. If installed under wall units, a minimum of 5 cm clearance must be left. Spacers are provided to ensure proper cooling of the condenser at the rear.

Usage Features:

  • Thermostat: A thermostat knob (from position 1 minimum to 5 maximum) allows users to set the desired temperature for both refrigerator and freezer compartments. Increasing the position decreases the temperature in the refrigerator compartment.
  • Freezer Compartment: Used for storing frozen foods, freezing fresh foods, and producing ice cubes. It is recommended to pack fruit and vegetables in portions of no more than 1 kg, and meat and fish in portions of up to 2 kg for quick freezing.
  • Fan: Distributes temperature evenly and reduces condensation on shelves and other surfaces within the refrigerator compartment.
  • Interior Lighting: The appliance's interior is lit when the door is opened. If the door is left open for too long, a sound and visual signal (flashing interior lights) will alert the user.
  • Refrigerator Compartment: Designed for storing fresh foods.
  • Super-cold Drawer: Maintains freshness and flavour of delicate foods like meat, fish, and lightly frozen items for longer periods, with temperatures kept between -2°C and +3°C. It is not suitable for freezing food or making ice.
  • Fruit and Vegetable Drawer: Located at the bottom of the refrigerator compartment, covered by a glass shelf, for storing fresh foods requiring constant humidity. Condensation on the glass shelf is a natural phenomenon.
  • Shelves: Adjustable in height within the refrigerator compartment. They have a safety fitting to prevent accidental removal. To remove, lift the rear part and pull them out. Perishable foods should be placed at the rear of the shelves where the temperature is lower.
  • Door Balconies and Shelves: Used for storing small containers, eggs, butter, dairy products, conserves, and bottles. Heavy bottles should be handled carefully to prevent dropping.
  • Food Storage Advice:
    • Always check expiry dates.
    • Foods should be stored in closed or pre-packaged containers to prevent moisture and odour transfer.
    • Hot foods and drinks must cool to room temperature before being placed in the appliance.
    • Raw meat and fish should be stored in suitable containers to prevent contact with other food or dripping.
    • The manual provides a detailed "Storage life table" for various foodstuffs in both refrigerator and freezer compartments.
    • Defrosted foods should be consumed as soon as possible. Partial defrosting can lower nutritional value.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning:
    • General: The appliance has antibacterial protection on interior walls but should be cleaned regularly.
    • Outside: Can be cleaned with water or alcohol-based liquid detergents (e.g., window cleaner). Abrasive detergents and rough sponges should be avoided. A soft brush can be used to remove dust from the condenser at the rear. The tank above the compressor should also be cleaned.
    • Inside: Clean with diluted liquid detergent, warm water, and a little vinegar. Door balconies and shelves are removable for cleaning.
    • Ice Removal: Remove ice thicker than 3-5 mm. Do not use sharp objects or spray products.
  • Defrosting:
    • Refrigerator Compartment: Automatic defrosting. Ice on the refrigeration plate melts when the compressor switches off, and the defrost water is channelled to a dedicated pan at the back where it evaporates.
    • Freezer Compartment: Occasional frost is normal. Do not use electrical appliances (e.g., hair dryers) or sprays for defrosting, as plastic parts could be damaged.
  • Turning Off: For long periods of disuse, unplug the appliance, empty compartments, defrost the freezer, dry any moisture, and leave the door ajar to prevent odours.
  • Noises During Operation: Humming from the compressor and gurgling from coolant are normal. If noises are excessive, check if the appliance is level, if drawers/shelves/trays are correctly positioned, if bottles/containers are stable, and if the fridge is in contact with other furniture or appliances.
  • Heated Front Surface: A heating system is present around the door seal to limit condensation.
  • Installation and Positioning:
    • The appliance must be positioned on a firm, level surface, ideally with the aid of a second person.
    • It has two small wheels at the back for easier movement.
    • The appliance should be leaned slightly towards the rear to facilitate proper door closure.
    • Ensure door seals close hermetically, especially at the corners.
    • After installation, check the level adjustment and door seals after a few days.
    • Do not press, tear, or detach the door seal.
  • Troubleshooting ("What to do if..."): The manual provides guidance for common issues such as the appliance not working, compressor running too often, excessive ice/condensation, insufficient cooling, or freezing in the refrigerator compartment, and hard-to-open doors.
