Overview

This document describes a hob appliance, covering its functions, usage, and maintenance. The hob is available in different configurations, including glass ceramic, induction, barbecue, and Teppan yaki plates.

Function Description

The appliance serves as a cooking hob, designed for various cooking processes such as heating, simmering, roasting, deep-frying, grilling, and direct cooking on a Teppan yaki plate. It is available in different types, including:

  • Glass Ceramic Hob: Features two cooking zones of varying power levels and diameters. Heat is concentrated within marked diameters, and radiating zones activate within seconds.
  • Induction Hob: Also features two cooking zones of varying power levels and diameters. These zones utilize an inductor coil powered by an electronic system to create a variable magnetic field, directly heating suitable pans.
  • Barbecue Hob: Equipped with a barbecue plate for grilling, cooking au gratin, or as a barbecue. It includes a tray for catching fat and grease, or for holding lava rock to retain heat.
  • Teppan Yaki Hob: Designed for cooking or heating food directly on the plate, with or without oil. It uses temperatures that do not exceed the smoke points of food, allowing for rapid cooking. This hob also has two cooking zones of equal power levels and diameters.

Usage Features

The hob offers several features to enhance cooking and safety:

  • Control Knobs: Cooking zones are activated by pressing and turning control knobs to the desired setting (typically 1 to 9). Adjustment is gradual, allowing for intermediate settings.
  • Residual Heat Indicator: For glass ceramic hobs, lights next to the knobs indicate residual heat when hot plates exceed 50°C, turning off when the temperature drops. For induction hobs, a flashing "H" on the display indicates a hot cooking zone.
  • Booster Function (Induction & Teppan Yaki Hobs): This function provides a temporary power boost for rapid heating, especially useful for boiling water. It is activated by rotating the knob to "P" and remains active for up to 10 minutes, after which it reverts to maximum cooking power. A flashing symbol indicates the booster is about to switch off.
  • Automatic Heating Control (Induction Hob): Provides maximum power to a cooking zone for a set period, then switches to a previously selected power level. Activated by rotating the knob to "A" and selecting the desired power within 10 seconds.
  • Warming Function: Regulates the cookware bottom temperature to approximately 70°C for keeping food warm or slow heating. Indicated by a "U" symbol, it has a maximum duration of 2 hours.
  • Pan Detection (Induction Hob): Each cooking zone has a detector that only activates cooking if a suitable, well-positioned container is present. If not, a symbol will appear on the display.
  • Cooking Hob Control Lock-out: Allows locking the hob controls to prevent accidental activation, especially by children. Activated by turning both knobs to "A" and holding for approximately 2 seconds (or one knob for 5 seconds). Unlocked by repeating the same action.
  • Thermal Protection (Circuit Board & Cooking Zones): The appliance continuously monitors the temperature of its electronic circuit board and cooking zones. If temperatures exceed certain values, functions are activated to reduce power or switch off zones to prevent damage and ensure correct operation. A flashing light on the power display indicates such interventions.
  • Cooking Guidelines: A table provides recommended knob positions for various cooking tasks, from melting butter (position 1) to deep-frying or rapid boiling (position 9).
  • Cookware Compatibility (Induction Hob): Requires special cookware with an iron or steel/iron bottom to generate the necessary magnetic field. A magnet can be used to test compatibility. Minimum pan diameters are specified for each cooking zone.
  • Using Fat and Oil (Teppan Yaki Hob): Emphasizes cooking at correct temperatures to maintain fat and oil properties and avoid burning. A table provides maximum temperatures and smoke points for various fats and oils.
  • Operating Temperatures (Teppan Yaki Hob): A table indicates the approximate temperatures corresponding to each heating level (0 to 9).

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the appliance's longevity and performance:

  • General Precaution: Always switch off the power supply before performing any cleaning or maintenance operations. Never use a steam jet for cleaning, as it can damage electronics and cause short-circuits.
  • Cleaning Stainless Steel:
    • Ordinary Daily Cleaning: Clean regularly after use, once cooled. Use specific non-abrasive, chlorine-free products. Apply with a damp cloth, rinse thoroughly, and dry with a soft cloth or chamois leather.
    • Food Stains or Residues: Do not use metallic sponges or sharp scrapers. Use ordinary non-abrasive products for steel with wooden or plastic utensils if needed. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  • Cleaning Glass Ceramic Hob: Clean regularly after every use, once residual heat warning lights have gone off. Aluminium-based pan smudges can be cleaned with a vinegar-dampened cloth. Remove burnt-on residue after cooking, then rinse and dry.
  • Cleaning Barbecue:
    • Remove the rack after it cools down and clean with standard washing-up liquid and a soft sponge.
    • To remove the tray under the resistance, first remove the rack, then lift and block the resistance using the sliding device. Remove the basin using its handles and clean with specific stainless steel products and a soft sponge.
    • Warning: Ensure the resistance is cool before lifting. Always block the tilted resistance with the sliding device. Do not activate the control device when the resistance is raised.
  • Cleaning Teppan Yaki Plate:
    • Clean after every use, once cooled (wait at least 15 minutes).
    • To facilitate cleaning, use ice cubes with a little washing-up detergent to soften residue for up to 1 hour.
    • Warning: Do not pour water onto a hot appliance to avoid injury from steam or boiling splashes.
    • Stain Removal: Whitish stains can be removed with lemon juice, vinegar, or a gentle lime-scale remover. Avoid abrasive or chlorine-based detergents.
    • Clean the edge of the appliance with a damp cloth or sponge and washing-up detergent, then dry thoroughly.
    • Assisted Cleaning Function: The Teppan yaki plate has an assisted cleaning function, activated by turning both knobs to the designated symbol. Clean the surface with a damp cloth during this process.
    • Precautions: The hob is not designed for cooking in pans. Slight yellowing of the steel surface is normal. Do not use knives or sharp cutlery directly on the cooking surface to avoid scratches or dents.
