Overview

This document serves as a comprehensive manual for a cooking hob, providing instructions for both the user and the installer. It emphasizes safety, proper usage, maintenance, and installation procedures, ensuring the appliance operates efficiently and safely throughout its lifespan.

Function Description

The appliance is a cooking hob designed for household use, primarily for cooking and heating foods. It is equipped with electronic ignition for easy lighting of burners. The hob is pre-set for natural gas G20 (2H) at a pressure of 20 mbar, but it can be adapted for use with other types of gas, such as LPG (G30/G31) or natural gas G25 (2ELL), by replacing nozzles and adjusting primary air. The burners are controlled by individual knobs, each indicating the corresponding burner. Some models feature double-crown burners, which include both an auxiliary and a rapid burner, controlled by two separate knobs, allowing for simultaneous use or selection of individual burners.

Usage Features

Before using the hob, users must ensure that the burners, flame-spreader crowns, and racks are correctly fitted. For ultra-rapid burners, the flame spreader crowns must be properly seated. To light a burner, the user presses the corresponding knob and simultaneously turns it anticlockwise to the minimum flame symbol until it ignites. On valved models, the knob must be held down for approximately 2 seconds to keep the flame lit and activate the safety device. If the flame goes out upon releasing the knob, the procedure should be repeated, holding the knob down for a longer duration. A safety device is incorporated to cut off the gas supply if burners accidentally go out, even if the gas tap is open, after about 20 seconds.

For optimal burner performance and minimal gas consumption, it is recommended to use pans with flat, even bases and lids, ensuring their size is proportionate to the burner. During cooking, all pans or griddles must be positioned within the cooking hob's perimeter, maintaining a minimum distance of 3-4 cm from the control knobs to prevent burns or damage to the hob top or glass lid. Users are cautioned against touching the lid glass with hot pots and pans, as this could cause the glass to crack.

When using a griddle plate, several precautions are necessary: a gap of at least 160 mm must be maintained between the edge of the griddle plate and the side wall. If a triple crown burner is near a wooden rear wall, a 160 mm gap must be left between the wall and the griddle plate. Burner flames should not extend beyond the griddle plate's edge. The burners underneath the griddle plate should be operated at maximum power for 10 minutes, then turned down to the minimum setting. The griddle plate should not be used for more than 45 minutes.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning is essential to keep the hob in good condition. The appliance should be allowed to cool before cleaning. For ordinary daily cleaning, only specific non-abrasive and chlorine-free products should be used. The product should be applied to a damp cloth, wiped over the surface, rinsed thoroughly, and dried with a soft cloth or microfiber cloth. For food stains or residues, metallic sponges and sharp scrapers should be avoided as they can damage the surface. Instead, ordinary non-abrasive products, anti-scratch sponges, and wooden or plastic utensils should be used. After cleaning, the surface should be rinsed thoroughly and dried with a soft cloth or chamois leather.

The control knobs can be removed by pulling them upwards for easier cleaning and should be cleaned with lukewarm water and washing-up liquid. Aggressive products containing alcohol or those for cleaning steel and glass should not be used on the knobs, as they can cause permanent damage. The racks should be removed and cleaned with lukewarm water and non-abrasive detergent to remove encrustations; they are not suitable for dishwasher cleaning.

Flame-spreader crowns are removable and should be washed with hot water and non-abrasive detergent to remove encrustations. For burned-on food residue, they can be soaked in hot water and washing-up liquid, then scrubbed with a scourer sponge. For less stubborn residue and polishing, stainless steel cream cleaner (Crema Inox) with a microfiber cloth is recommended. After cleaning, the crowns must be perfectly dry before being repositioned. Igniters and thermocouples must always be perfectly clean for correct operation. They should be checked frequently and cleaned with a damp cloth, removing any dry residues with a wooden toothpick or a needle.

For models with a glass or steel lid, it should be cleaned with lukewarm water, avoiding abrasive sponges or detergents. To clean the rear part of the cooktop, the lid unit can be lifted upwards. After cleaning, the cover should be refitted correctly. Any liquid that may have dripped should be dried before lifting the lid. The lid should never be lowered when burners are on or still hot. After any cleaning, the appliance should be thoroughly dried to prevent water or detergent drips from interfering with its operation or creating unsightly marks.

Over time, gas taps may become difficult to turn or blocked. In such cases, they should be cleaned internally and the lubrication grease replaced. This procedure must be carried out by a specialized technician.
