How to create HI-TIPPLUS and OTS libraries on data carriers
The directory and file names may only be composed of the letters A to Z (upper or lower case), the figures
0 to 9, the hyphen "-" and the underscore "_". The dot "." is only allowed between file names and file
name extensions. When importing directories the names of which do not correspond to the standard lib-
rary (see Fig.), the directory name will be used as category name as well. The category name may be
changed later on in Organize categories (F 2-52). The name Sessions is reserved for OTS (see below) and
can thus not be used otherwise.
If an importable library for the OTS system shall con-
tain also training sessions beside the threat images,
you have to create a Sessions directory in exactly this
spelling in the root directory of the data carrier. In this
directory you can create again a corresponding sub-
directory with basic images for every training session.
If you create a library upgrade, observe that existing
files will be replaced (overwritten) by the imported
files of the upgrade without consultation, if the direct-
ory and file names exactly match (upper case/lower
case). If necessary, choose different names. However,
if you want to add threat images to an existing category, be sure to choose the same directory name. Ob-
serve the exact spelling.
When importing a complete threat image library, all data carriers will be regarded as upgrades after de-
letion of the existing library (F 2-54). Hence, the order of the data carriers does not matter.
The categories should only contain threat images in the HIF format (Heimann Image Format). Though
files of different formats are harmless, they needlessly occupy memory capacity since they are copied to-
gether with the HIF files.
If a main category has got subcategories, it should not contain threat images itself, since the latter are
not used but do as well need memory capacity.
The root directory of the data carriers should as well be without threat images because of the same reas-
on.
If the file name extension of the X-ray images is written in lower case letters (...hif), the respective X-ray
image is activated for insertions (
F 2-55). Extensions in upper case letters (...HIF) mean: no activation.
You can thus activate or deactivate images through the spelling of file extensions.
Mark the data carrier so that the users carrying out the import will undoubtedly know whether they are
dealing with a complete library or an upgrade and if the library is only destined for the HI-TIP
PLUS
or only
for the OTS system or likewise for both systems.

If a library is imported to the HI-TIP
PLUS
system* the Sessions directory is ig-
nored, i.e. not imported.
