Overview

This document outlines the operation and maintenance of a cordless snow blower, a remanufactured product designed for residential use. The snow blower is intended for clearing snow from paved surfaces and comes with specific instructions to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Function Description

The cordless snow blower is a battery-powered device designed to remove snow from paved surfaces. It utilizes a steel auger with rubber blades to collect and discharge snow. The unit features a remote-controlled chute that can be rotated 180 degrees to direct the snow stream, and a deflector on the chute allows for adjustment of the snow stream height. An integrated LED light provides illumination for nighttime operation. The device is powered by a lithium-ion battery pack, which is charged using a dedicated charger. A safety key ensures that the unit cannot be accidentally started.

Usage Features

Before operating the snow blower, users must thoroughly read the operator's manual and familiarize themselves with all controls and adjustments. The battery pack, which is partially charged upon receipt, must be fully charged before first use. To start the snow blower, the battery pack is inserted into its compartment, the safety key is placed in its slot, and the battery compartment cover is closed. The ON/OFF switch bar lever and safety switch button are then engaged.

Users are advised to inspect the work area before each use, removing any objects such as rocks, glass, nails, wire, or string that could be picked up and thrown by the snow blower, causing damage or injury. The snow blower is designed to operate at a specific rate for optimal safety and performance, so users should avoid forcing it. If the snow blower strikes an object, it should be stopped immediately, the battery removed, and the unit inspected for damage before resuming operation.

The snow discharge chute should never be directed at the operator, bystanders, vehicles, or windows, as discharged snow, potentially containing foreign objects, can cause serious damage or personal injury. The chute can be rotated 180 degrees using the remote switch to direct snow away from the operator and surrounding areas. The height of the snow stream can be adjusted by loosening and tightening the deflector knobs on the chute. For nighttime operation, the LED light can be turned on and adjusted.

The battery pack is equipped with a push button to check the charge level, indicated by LEDs. Users are encouraged to charge the battery frequently to avoid low discharge cycles and prolong its life. It is important not to overcharge batteries or leave them in the charger for extended periods. If the battery pack becomes warm during heavy use, it should be allowed to cool to room temperature before recharging. The snow blower should not be used if the switch malfunctions or if abnormal sounds are heard from the engine; in such cases, the unit should be stopped, the battery removed, and customer service contacted.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the safety and longevity of the snow blower. Before performing any maintenance, the unit must be turned off, and the battery removed. The motor and auger are lubricated for lifetime use at the factory, so additional lubrication is not necessary and may cause damage.

General maintenance tips include checking bolts and screws at frequent intervals to ensure proper tightness. After each snow removal session, the snow blower should be run for a few minutes to prevent the collector/impeller from freezing. Any residual ice and snow should be wiped off the unit.

For battery and charger care, users should never immerse them in liquid or allow liquid to flow inside. Dust and debris should be cleaned from charger vents and electrical contacts using compressed air. Mild soap on a damp cloth can be used to clean the battery pack and charger, avoiding electrical contacts. Certain cleaning agents and solvents, such as gasoline, turpentine, lacquer thinner, paint thinner, chlorinated cleaning solvents, ammonia, and household detergents containing ammonia, should not be used as they can be harmful to plastics and insulated parts. The battery charger has no serviceable parts.

Worn rubber plates and scraper bars can be replaced. When replacing rubber plates, attention should be paid to the removal order, and new plates should be inserted in reverse order. The scraper bar is detached by removing screws and then replaced with a new one, fastening it securely.

For off-season storage, the snow blower should be examined for worn, loose, or damaged parts, which should be repaired or replaced. The unit should be cleaned, and the battery and safety key removed before storing it indoors in a locked, dry place out of reach of children. The battery pack and charger should be stored at room temperature, away from moisture, and recharged to 50% capacity every 6 months to maintain optimal performance.

Disposal of battery packs must comply with federal, state, and local regulations. Discharged battery packs should have their terminals covered with electrical tape to prevent shorting. Battery packs should never be burned or incinerated, as this can cause an explosion and emit toxic fumes.
