Overview

This document is a user manual for Sôlt Undermount Rangehoods, specifically models GGSRUM520S and GGSRUM900S. It provides comprehensive instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of these kitchen appliances, aiming to ensure optimal performance and user safety.

The primary function of the Sôlt Undermount Rangehood is to extract smoke, steam, and cooking odors from the kitchen environment. It is designed to be installed discreetly within an overhead or wall cabinet, offering an integrated look while maintaining powerful ventilation capabilities. The rangehood operates by drawing air through aluminum grease filters, which capture airborne grease particles, and then either expelling the air outside (ducted installation) or recirculating it back into the kitchen after passing it through optional carbon filters (recirculating installation).

Usage Features:

The rangehood features a user-friendly control panel, typically located on the front of the unit, which allows for easy management of its functions. The control panel includes buttons for:

  • Power Off: To turn the rangehood fan completely off.
  • Low Speed: Activates the fan at its lowest setting, suitable for simmering or light cooking with minimal steam.
  • Medium Speed: Engages the fan at a moderate speed, ideal for regular cooking activities.
  • High Speed: Provides maximum extraction power, recommended for heavy smoke or steam to ensure the highest exhaust efficiency.
  • Light: Controls the integrated LED lights, allowing users to illuminate the cooking surface. Users are cautioned not to touch the lights for at least 30 minutes after use, as they can become hot, and to avoid covering them with thermal insulation.

The rangehood is designed for domestic use in various residential settings, including farmhouses, serviced apartments, holiday apartments, and other residential environments. It is important to note that the appliance is not suitable for use over barbecues or for external installation.

For optimal performance, users should ensure adequate ventilation in the room when the rangehood is used simultaneously with other gas or fuel-burning appliances. This prevents the creation of negative pressure, which could draw combustion products back into the living space. The manual emphasizes the importance of supervising the cooking process continuously, especially when using lit gas burners, to mitigate fire risks.

Maintenance Features:

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the rangehood's efficiency, longevity, and safe operation. The manual outlines a clear schedule and methods for various maintenance tasks:

  • Cleaning the Exterior Surface: This should be done weekly using a soft cloth lightly dampened with lukewarm water and a compatible, non-abrasive cleaning solution. It is essential to use a soft cloth to prevent scratches.
  • Cleaning the Controls: The control panel should also be cleaned weekly with a clean, soft cloth and a cotton swab, using a compatible cleaning solution carefully.
  • Cleaning the Grease Filters: The aluminum grease filters require monthly cleaning. Users have two options:
    • Manual Cleaning: Soak the filters in a kitchen sink for approximately 3 minutes in water (max 30°C) with a mild, non-corrosive grease-removing detergent. Then, gently brush the filters with a soft brush, avoiding excessive pressure to prevent damage.
    • Dishwasher Cleaning: Place the filters in a dishwasher and run a program with a mild, non-corrosive grease-removing detergent. It is advised not to use rinse aids and to ensure the program temperature does not exceed 30°C. The filters should be washed separately from other crockery and utensils. After cleaning, the filters should be left to air dry naturally, away from direct sunlight, before being gently refitted. The manual notes that fading and discoloration of filters over time are normal and not covered by warranty.
  • Installing and Replacing Carbon Filters (Optional): For recirculating installations, carbon filters are an optional accessory that needs to be purchased separately. These filters cannot be cleaned or washed and should be replaced every 2 to 3 months. The replacement process involves disconnecting the power supply, removing the grease filters, gently slotting in the new carbon filter, turning it clockwise to secure, and then refitting the grease filters and reconnecting power. The manual warns that using a carbon filter will lower the rangehood's extraction power.
  • Replacing the Light Bulb: If a light bulb needs replacement, users are instructed to contact the After Sales Support Team to arrange for a qualified electrician or an authorized service agent. It is crucial to allow the globe to cool down before replacement, as it can be hot.

Safety in Maintenance:

The manual stresses several safety precautions for maintenance:

  • Always switch off the rangehood and remove the plug from the power socket before performing any cleaning or maintenance.
  • Avoid cleaning electrical or electronic parts with water to prevent electric shock.
  • Do not use acrid or corrosive detergents, abrasive wipes, chemicals, or alcohol, as these can damage the surface. Alkaline dishwasher detergents are also to be avoided for filters.
  • Never use a steam cleaner on the rangehood.
  • Ensure the rangehood and its components have cooled down before cleaning.
  • Any visible damage, strong odors, or excessive overheating should prompt immediate cessation of use and contact with the After Sales Support Team.
  • Maintenance and inspection should be frequent.

By adhering to these guidelines, users can effectively maintain their Sôlt Undermount Rangehood, ensuring its continued performance and safety in the kitchen.
