Overview

This document is the user manual for the Sôlt GGSSL900S 90cm Slide-out Rangehood, a domestic appliance designed for household and similar applications, including farmhouses, serviced apartments, holiday apartments, and other residential environments.

Function Description:

The Sôlt GGSSL900S is a slide-out rangehood designed to extract cooking fumes and odors from the kitchen. It can operate in two modes: ducted extraction, where air is vented outside, and recirculating mode, where air is filtered and returned to the room. The rangehood features a fan with two speed settings (Low and High) and integrated lighting.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: GGSSL900S
  • Finish: White with Stainless Steel Fascia
  • Extraction Rate: 550m³/hr
  • Speed Settings: 2 (Low, High)
  • Filters: 2 × Aluminium Grease Filters (washable), Carbon Filters (optional accessory for recirculating mode)
  • Lighting: 2 × 1.5W LED
  • Max. Noise Rating: 71 dB(A)
  • Power Supply: 220-240V~, 50Hz
  • Product Dimensions (W x D x H): 895 × 298 × 175 mm
  • Installation: Cupboard or Wall Mountable
  • Minimum Height from Cooktop: 650mm (Electric Cooktop), 650mm (Gas Cooktop). This distance can be reduced for non-combustible parts, except grease filters, and parts operating at safety extra low voltage, provided they do not give access to live parts if deformed. If the cooktop instructions specify a greater distance, that minimum height must be observed.
  • Ducting Diameter: Minimum 120mm for optimal airflow.

Usage Features:

  • Control Panel: The rangehood features a simple control panel with separate switches for light operation and motor speed.
    • Light Operation: An "Off" setting and an "On" setting for the built-in lamp.
    • Motor Operation: "Off" to turn the fan off, "Low Speed" for regular cooking with less steam, and "High Speed" for heavy smoke or steam to achieve maximum exhaust efficiency.
  • Slide-out Design: The rangehood is designed to slide out, likely to activate the fan and lights, and retract when not in use, offering a discreet appearance.
  • Recirculating Mode: For installations without an external outlet, optional carbon filters can be purchased and installed. The venting knob must be set to "Circulating-Air Mode" for this operation.
  • Ducted Extraction Mode: For optimal performance, the rangehood should be ducted to the outside atmosphere. The venting knob must be set to "Extraction-Air Mode."
  • Check Valve Installation: A check valve is included for ducted installations to prevent backflow of air. It is installed by aligning and rotating it into the vent hole until secured.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Never operate more than 4 cooktop burners at the same time.
    • Never flambé under the rangehood.
    • Ensure adequate room ventilation when used simultaneously with gas or other fuel-burning appliances to prevent backflow of combustion gases and carbon monoxide poisoning.
    • Always cover lit gas burners with pots or pans when the rangehood is in use.
    • Never leave lit gas burners unattended.

Maintenance Features:

  • Exterior Surface Cleaning: Weekly cleaning with a soft cloth dampened in lukewarm water and a mild, non-corrosive cleaning solution. Avoid abrasive materials to prevent scratches.
  • Controls Cleaning: Weekly cleaning with a clean, soft cloth and a cotton swab, using a compatible cleaning solution carefully.
  • Grease Filters Cleaning: Monthly cleaning. Filters can be soaked in warm water (max 30°C) with a mild, non-corrosive grease-removing detergent for approximately 3 minutes, or placed in a dishwasher on a program with a mild, non-corrosive detergent (not exceeding 30°C). Filters should be washed separately from other items and allowed to dry naturally.
  • Carbon Filters Replacement: If used, carbon filters should be replaced every 2-3 months. They are not washable. Replacement involves disconnecting power, removing grease filters, slotting in the new carbon filter, and securing it clockwise.
  • Light Bulb Replacement: The rangehood uses 2 × 1.5W LED modules (220-240V~, 33.2mm x 120mm). Replacement should only be performed by a qualified electrician or authorised service agent. Always allow the globe to cool down and use gloves or a cloth to avoid direct contact, which can reduce lifespan.
  • General Maintenance: Regular inspection for damage, strong odors, or excessive overheating. Disconnect from power before any maintenance. Avoid cleaning electrical parts with water. Do not use acrid, corrosive, abrasive detergents, chemicals, alcohol, or steam cleaners.

Installation Guidelines:

  • Installation should be performed by a suitably qualified person and must comply with local building codes, gas, and electrical authorities.
  • The rangehood must be properly earthed.
  • A power point should be located within 1.5m of the power cord exit and be accessible for disconnection.
  • The rangehood should be mounted level, both horizontally and vertically.
  • For ducted installations, keep ducting short, straight, and with minimal bends. Use rigid or semi-rigid 120mm diameter ducting for optimal performance.
  • For recirculating installations, ensure the check-valve is installed and the venting knob is set correctly.
  • Mounting options include cupboard mounting (using 4 screws and flexible clips) or wall mounting (using 4 screws and plastic wall plugs).
  • Always protect the rangehood surfaces during installation.

The manual also includes troubleshooting tips for minor faults such as lights not working, motor issues, insufficient suction, vibrations, or oil leakage, and advises contacting After Sales Support for serious faults.
