PRECAUTIONS
On
microphone handling
• The
microphone
should
never be dropped
or
subjected
to
extreme shock.
• Keep
the
microphone
away
from extremely high tempera,
tures
(above
60
°C
or
140°
F).
• If the
microphone
is placed
too
near
the
speakers, a howl-
ing
effect
(acoustic
feedback) may occur. If
this
happens,
change the
direction
of
the
microphone
until
the
howling
stops
,
or
decrease the speaker volume.
On
battery
• The
battery
polarity
is
quite
different from
that
of
a conven-
tional
battery
. Its
button
side is
the
minus
e pole, and
the
case
side is
the
plus
® pole. when you insert the
battery
into
the
battery
compartment
,
notice
an
illustration
of
the
battery
compartment.
• If the
microphone
is
not
to
be
used
for
a long time, remove
the
battery
.
• A mercury
battery
may become powdercoated (salting
phenomena). The powder will
not
affect
the
battery
perform-
ance,
but
it may result
in
poor
contact
. Remove
the
powder by
wiping
the
battery
with
a
soft
cloth
before use.
•
Do
not
throw
the
discharged
battery
into
a fire, nor
short·
circuit
the
poles as the
battery
may
explode.
•
If
the
microphone
is
not
to
be
used, set
the
mode
switch
to
OFF.

BATTERY
INSTALLATION
Turn the battery

the
left and open it.
BATTERY LIFE
Insert a battery with cor

e the
lid
as
it
was.
When
the
mode
selector
is moved from OFF
to
STEREO,
the
batt
ery check
lamp
will
illuminate
momentarily.
With
an
ex·
hausted battery,
the
lamp
will
illuminate
dimly.
The
battery
can be used
for
about
180
hours
continuously
with
t
he
Sony
battery
EPX675.
Mercury batteries, unlike conventional batteries, are unique in
that
the
amount
of
consumption
rapidly decreases at
the
max-
imum
consumption
point.
To
maintain
a
high
level
of
performance from
this
microphone
,
a
li
ttle
earlier replacement
of
the
battery
is recommended.
